Collin Gosselin Drops Secret Abuse Bombshell About Mom, Kate

Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Collin Gosselin has dropped some secret abuse bombshells about his mom, Kate Gosselin.

Collin has shared abuse allegations before. However, Collin now says that his mom sent him to a mental institution to cover up the alleged abuses. Read on to find out what Collin had to say about his mom and what he says he went through.

Collin Alleged Abuse From Jon Gosselin

In the past, Collin Gosselin has shared allegations of abuse about his father, Jon Gosselin. Jon and Kate’s divorce was public and messy and left the couple scrambling for custody rights over their children. In 2018, Jon filed for and was granted custody of Collin. At the same time, Jon was also granted custody of Collin’s sister Hannah.

But in 2020, Collin Gosselin took to social media and alleged that his father had been “beating” him. On a since-deleted post on social media, then-16-year-old Collin wrote that Jon was a “liar.” Collin said that the day before, his father had beaten him up and “thought nothing of it.” The reality tv teen added, “he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding.” Collin continued, “He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor.” He again called his father a liar.

Berks County Child & Youth Services investigated the allegations but filed no charges as a result of what they found. Jon denied the allegations of abuse and said that his son had been through trauma. Jon added that he was working hard to make sure his son received all the help he needed. After that incident, Jon and Collin seemed to patch up their relationship and have remained close. Collin remains estranged from his mother Kate and six of his siblings while staying on good terms with his sister Hannah.

Now, Collin Gosselin Is Dropping A Secret Abuse Bombshell About His Mom, Kate

Now, Collin Gosselin is saying that Kate Gosselin institutionalized him to cover up her abuses.

On Vice’s new show, The Dark Side of the 2000s, Collin opened up about things he previously kept under wraps. The now-19-year-old said on the show that as a preteen, he was starting to tell his teachers about the abuse he endured at the hands of his mother. He then alleged to producers that to stop Collin from talking about the abuse, Kate sent him away to a mental institution. Collin explained, “I was starting to tell people what was going on at home.” He added, “She caught wind of that and had to put me somewhere where I wouldn’t be able to get the secrets out.”

In the past, Kate has denied all allegations of abuse. According to the family matriarch, she has been investigated many times, and the allegations were “always unfounded.” Kate did, however, send Collin to Fairmount Behavioral Health Institute, a psychiatric hospital in Philadelphia, in 2016. He was 12 years old at the time. It’s unclear if what Collin says about her motive is true. But Kate said at the time that she sent him to the institute because her son had “special needs.” She said that the family had struggled to help him for a long time, and needed to learn “strategies to help him deal with things.”

Hannah Corroborates Collin’s Claims

However, Collin’s sister Hannah also spoke to Vice and backed up her brother’s claims about how their mom treated him differently. Hannah claimed that Collin was separated from the rest of the family, detailing how he wasn’t allowed to play with them and ate dinner separately from the siblings. Jon said he did not have custody of Collin or Hannah at the time, so he wasn’t aware of what was going on. Collin says he wrote his father a note in crayon, begging him to get him out of the Institute. When he was hospitalized, Collin told Vice, it took a toll and put him in a dark place mentally. He added, “It was scary. I was confused. I was lost.”
