In an unexpected move, CBS is going to air Yellowstone this fall. When can viewers watch the Taylor Sheridan-created series on the network? Moreover, what is this Kevin Costner-led series all about?

Here are all the details.

CBS Adding Yellowstone To Their Lineup

On Monday, Deadline reported some surprising news. CBS is adding Yellowstone to their Sunday night lineup. That means this fall, the Kevin Costner series is making its broadcast debut.

This is all in response to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike currently crippling Hollywood, particularly networks like CBS. The writers’ and actors’ strikes have halted all production of their top series such as NCIS. Currently Paramount is waiting to film the final episodes of the series. This has been delayed due to the dual strikes.

When Will Yellowstone Start On CBS?

CBS will premiere Yellowstone Season 1, Episode 1 in the fall, at 9 p.m., Eastern. The show will replace the timeslot that The Equalizer typically airs. This will be after a doubleheader of NFL football games. On nights that there is only one football game, CBS will air 90 minutes of their long-running series 60 Minutes. Afterward, they will air a double shot of Yellowstone. Either way, after Yellowstone is Big Brother, airing at 10 p.m., Eastern.

What Is Paramount Series About?

Although Yellowstone has enjoyed the largest viewership on cable television, there are still many who have not seen this dramatic series. The series is about the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). They own the largest ranch in Montana. It borders Yellowstone National Park and Broken Rock Indian Reservation.

This drama centers around John Dutton as he tries to keep the family business going traditionally, unable to adapt to the modern world.

There Is A Lot Of Cussing In Paramount Series

One big question about CBS airing Yellowstone is that there is a lot of cussing in the series. This is not allowed in broadcast television. It seems likely that CBS has already resolved that issue before making this epic announcement. They could use AI to fix the language. Another option is to bleep out the words. The former seems more likely.

What About Peacock?

One of the most confusing details about Yellowstone is that Peacock has the streaming rights to the first five seasons. CBS did not share how they were allowed to air the top show on cable television. But, this news could help Peacock in the long run.

Currently, Peacock is streaming all five seasons. That includes the first eight episodes of Season 5. Some CBS viewers may want to sign up for Peacock after a few episodes. This way, they could binge the series, instead of waiting each Sunday for the next episode.

CBS viewers, will you be tuning in to watch Kevin Costner as John Dutton?
