The latest updates on where actress Amanda Bynes is with her life haven’t been great. Her loved ones and her fans, however, embrace a glimmer of help as the former Nickelodeon personality is currently getting the help she needs.

As Tv Shows Ace previously reported, Amanda Bynes was detained by police after calling of her own accord and asking for help. The actress was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold.

It, however, is now being reported that medical experts (and her loved ones) agree 72 hours just isn’t long enough to fix the current situation and get her back to being stable. So, the decision has been reportedly made to extend her current psychiatric hold.

Amanda Bynes’ Psychiatric Hold Extended Amid Concerns

A source close to the actress — with direct knowledge of the situation — tells TMZ the actress will now remain in psychiatric care for at least another week after her current 72-hour hold comes to an end. The source explains that at least an additional week is necessary to stabilize the actress with therapy and medication.

It has been confirmed that when Amanda Bynes is taking her medication and getting regular therapy she is able to live a pretty normal life. Unfortunately, the actress frequently falls into a nasty cycle that is extremely common among people who struggle with mental health. This cycle involves the individual discontinuing their medication because they start to feel better and think they don’t need it anymore.

TMZ notes it has not been confirmed whether Amanda was in one of these cycles when she reached out to the police for assistance prior to her current psychiatric hold. Fans of the actress are heartbroken as they watch her struggles continue. They, however, take comfort in the fact that she recognized her spiral and need for medical assistance.

Under Conservatorship, Medicine Was A NonIssue

As those following Amanda Bynes’ story know, she was under conservatorship for just shy of a decade before it came to an end a little over a year ago. While under the conservatorship, her mother was responsible for making sure Amanda took all of her medication. The actress was reportedly compliant with her mother and there was never an issue with her falling into a nasty cycle because she refused to take medication.

Sadly, this is the second time in three months Amanda has been placed under a psychiatric hold. So, there are some understandable concerns as to whether ending the conservatorship was really in her best interest.
