Kelly Ripa Reveals Her Biggest Pet Peeve With Mark Consuelos
Live hostess Kelly Ripa recently revealed that her spouse has one very annoying habit that she cannot stand.
All married couples bicker now and then, but it appears that Mark Consuelos has a bad habit that drives Kelly crazy. And after hearing more about the bad habit, many of the Live audience members agreed.
So what exactly does Mark do that irritates his wife so much?
Kelly Ripa threatens to leave the house when Mark does one particular thing
Live with Kelly and Mark frequently features a fun array of segments. And during one episode this week, the couple decided to discuss the “best food sounds.” The segment even featured results from a survey.
Mark went down the list and read some of the most popular sounds out loud. Stir-fried vegetables and popped popcorn ranked high on the list. But when Mark got to one particular sound, Kelly flipped.
Mark declared that biting into an apple made the list and noted that his wife hates the sound.
“Especially when it’s your mouth,” Kelly retorted. “You have a cavernous mouth cavity. And so it’s not just the crispy first bite. The sound of [Mark] chewing fills me with rage. I have to leave the room and sometimes — I have to leave the apartment.”
“How else are you supposed to eat an apple? I’m a man!” Mark jokingly defended himself. “There’s no messing around with it! You want to bite into that thing. You want to have some gratification.”
Mark went on to say that when eating an apple, he wanted the juice to run all over his hand as part of the experience. He then continued on to discuss peaches, which got another reaction from his wife.
“If he eats a peach, I leave the state. I’ll be in New Jersey. You call me when you’re done,” Kelly teased back.
Mark Consuelos really brings the energy to the Live set — bad habits aside
Mark Consuelos may drive his wife nuts with his eating habits, but many viewers really seem to appreciate his presence on set. In fact, Kelly Ripa recently pointed out that there have been more men in the audience since her husband joined the show.
“I will say — I don’t know if it’s the Consuelos effect on this show but since you’ve been here, there have been a ton of men in the audience,” Kelly informed the audience during a recent episode. “This used to be a safe space for women. There was an entirely female audience and once in a while, a husband would sit very silently, afraid to move.”
“I want to say something — this is a safe place for women. But now, this is also a safe place for men. That’s how we should brand the show,” Mark added.
But if Mark ever brings an apple or a peach to the stage, the audience members may just join Kelly and run for the hills.
