Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Dish On Their Rude Awakening
Live hosts Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa got a pretty rude awakening this week — quite literally!

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos admit they didn’t get much sleep earlier this week
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos love opening their talk show with a little anecdote. But their stories aren’t generally this eventful!
This week, the Live cohosts definitely got more than they bargained for when their home fire alarm system malfunctioned.
“Guys, we’re a little tired. We did not get a lot of rest last night. We had an incident in our house. I’m not gonna name names but the fire department came,” Kelly joked before shooting her husband an accusatory glance.
“There’s nothing like being awakened at 2 a.m. by the alarm going off. We have this [fire alarm] that says ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!'” Mark laughed in response. “So I go downstairs, I’m playing [with the alarm trying to shut it off] and the fire department shows up.”
The couple went on to say the fire department called and asked for their passcode. However, they couldn’t exactly remember the correct one and ended up guessing. So the fire department had no choice but to show up.
“It was like the worst final round of Jeopardy!,” Kelly joked about the guessing game they played with the firefighters.
In the end, everything ended up turning out all right. Mark and Kelly made it to their show on time. And on top of everything else, they know their fire alarm systems work well.

Are the Live hosts finally finding their stride?
When Mark Consuelos first took over for Ryan Seacrest on the set of Live, not everyone was convinced things would work out. Many viewers weren’t sure that Mark could really fill Ryan’s shoes.
On top of that, he and Kelly didn’t always seem to see eye-to-eye on set — even though they’re a married couple. Others thought the openers were boring. Some reports indicate that a crew member was so bored by the dialogue that he actually fell asleep in the middle of production. ABC denied those claims, however.
