Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Can’t See Eye-To-Eye On Set?
Live with Kelly and Mark is in full swing after Ryan Seacrest’s departure. Although Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are married in real life, fans just aren’t that impressed with their onscreen chemistry.
In fact, plenty of viewers think that the show’s new format is off to a rocky start. And Friday’s episode definitely didn’t help the situation.
Fans cringe at Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos’ Friday game
During Friday’s episode, show hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos hosted the “Grow For It Spring Trivia” event on their show, as documented by The Sun.
The concept was pretty simple — they would invite a viewer to play a guessing game with them over the phone to win a prize. The caller had to tell the hosts one true statement and one false statement. If Kelly and Mark couldn’t guess which was true and which was a lie, the caller would win a mug.
“I hope you win, Leah. But you probably won’t,” Mark teased the caller. He went on to say how much he wanted the caller to win. However, Kelly pointed out that was bad logic and that he wasn’t playing the game correctly if he was rooting for the caller.
“No, if you want her to win, you have to pick the one that you believe is false but you say it’s true,” Kelly interjected.
“No, I don’t do that, I don’t do that,” Mark insisted, refusing to cheat. Onscreen, the pair squabbled a bit over which statement was true and which was a lie.
In the end, Mark and Kelly ended up guessing correctly and the caller didn’t win a mug after all.
“I really am sorry you didn’t win a mug,” Mark told the caller.
“No you’re not, because I told you which one to pick,” his wife grumbled.
Mark suggested that they just give the mugs away. Viewers noticed that Kelly seemed visibly annoyed at the situation. Overall, it was a pretty awkward segment.
Fans don’t love the new format — and neither do crew members, allegedly
After Mark Consuelos took over for Ryan Seacrest, plenty of viewers have shared that they aren’t very impressed with the show. Many have said that they find the show completely uninteresting now.
Apparently, even the crew might be a little bored with the show’s new format. A source reportedly told The Sun that a crew member once dozed off while taping.
“He then legitimately fell asleep for about two minutes while Kelly and Mark were still going on about the news topics!” the source shared.
However, The Sun reached out to ABC for comment. The network didn’t think there was any truth to the source’s statement.
“The Live hosts and crew is a supportive family,” a rep for ABC stated. “No one would fall asleep- the set is too lively!”

Give them a chance, I personally think it’s the best talk show on TV.

Yes! The show should have ended when Ryan left or found an equivalent co-host, someone that people know and love!
Yes, adding her husband was a HUGE mistake!
