Friday, April 14 was Ryan Seacrest’s last day on Live with Kelly and Ryan. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, fans found out that it was a pre-recorded episode. They lost their minds over the revelation. They would’ve liked to see the tears flowing during a live broadcast.

The ABC talk show has been slammed in the past for its pre-recorded segments. Viewers said it’s lost the “live” aspect and should change its name to Kelly and Mark. However, it’s remained as Live With Kelly and Mark as of Monday, April 17.

Back in February, Ryan announced that he was leaving the talk show. He told his co-host Kelly Ripa that he wants to move out of New York City. Ryan is heading back to Los Angeles to film Season 21 of American Idol and focus on his other projects. Most of his ventures take place on the west coast.

Ryan has enjoyed co-hosting LIVE! with Kelly Ripa for six seasons. However, it’s been difficult for him. He has to travel back and forth between his jobs to make it possible. Kelly was sad to see her “work husband” leave. She will have to co-host the show with her real-life husband, whom she’s already not impressed with.

Is Kelly Ripa ready to retire?

In a recent interview, Kelly Ripa admitted that she thinks about retirement. There will be a day when she walks away from the talk show. She talked about working with her husband in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Sunday, April 16. Kelly admitted that she’s getting a “jolt of energy” by working with Mark, but she still has retirement on the brain.

“But to be clear, I am always thinking about retiring,” Kelly Ripa confessed to Entertainment Weekly. “It is my favorite topic of discussion.”

Mark joked that his wife talks about it almost every other day of the week. The husband and wife duo it also thinks it’s crazy for them to co-host the show together. Yet, it was a no-brainer. Kelly said that no one else would make her “stay” on the show, other than her husband.

“But make no mistake, I do see a vision of the show without me,” Kelly Ripa continued. “I am not one of these people that is like, ‘The show can’t go on without me.’ I am a fan of Live since before I got there.”

She calls it a “collaborative” effort. Kelly has a feeling that many co-hosts will come and bring their own version. This is a “real thought process” and “plan” that she’s working on. They want to keep the show running for as long as possible, no matter whose name is on the title.
