Turns out, a producer of Sister Wives is clearing the air on spin-off rumors and addressing the future of the TLC series.

What is going to happen to Sister Wives now that Kody Brown has lost all of his wives but Robyn is a question fans have had since Season 17 came to an end. For the most part, fans question how a series focused on a polygamous family can continue to move forward when the family failed to thrive and all that remains is one monogamous couple.

Many fans have proposed the possibility of a spin-off (or a few different spin-offs). Some fans want to see what life is like for Christine Brown after leaving Kody. Some want a spin-off focused on Janelle and Christine’s friendship. And, some fans even want gears to shift completely and focus on some of the adult children instead.

What Sister Wives fans are seemingly in agreement that they don’t want is a series focused on Kody and Robyn Brown after their plural family crumbled. Fans have all but begged the network not to take this route with the future of the series.

Fortunately, fans of the TLC series may finally have some answers to their questions. A producer of the reality TV series named Chris Poole sat down with Variety to discuss Season 18 of the series as well as the potential for spin-offs. What did he have to say?

Sister Wives producer addresses spin-offs and show’s future

As far as fans know, the family has been actively filming Season 18 of Sister Wives. Fans also have every reason to believe that Christine’s new boyfriend, David Woolley, will be a part of the new season. Understandably, Sister Wives fans can’t wait to see how Kody Brown reacts to learning Christine has not only found a new man, but she’s bought a house with him, and they are getting married.

Chris Poole tells Variety that the series will be returning for Season 18. The series is just going to shift from being about a man and his four wives to being more of a co-parenting situation. During Season 18, fans will watch as the entire family tries to sort through what their family looks like moving forward.

The producer continued to admit that Christine Brown’s decision to leave the family was huge and it shook everyone. He, however, wants to be clear that they’ve continued to film tons of footage of the family since that happened. Moreover, he points out that Kody and Christine still have to interact because they have children together.

It continues to be just as interesting and dramatic because, as much as Christine’s left, Kody is still the father of her children. They still have to interact and figure that out.”

Is there a possibility of spin-offs?

Chris Poole admits that getting the bulk of the family together for filming is a real challenge because they are scattered, living in many places now. Moreover, he recognizes that the situation presents a unique opportunity for a spin-off or several spin-offs. He loves the idea of doing spin-offs, but right now Sister Wives still has a lot of stories left to tell. And, the spin-offs people are asking for are actually stories that will be covered in Season 18 (and beyond).

Unfortunately, this does mean it sounds like Sister Wives spin-offs have been tabled for now. But, it also sounds like the series Sister Wives has a very bright future.

  1. I am glad the other wives left. he is not a good husand. and Robin needs to worry now about her replacement. this guy is a creep.

    1. Please dont cancel Sister Wives i love the programme im sure that there could be loads of story lines especially if Christines new partner will be in it ,because Kody would hate that .

  2. I watched Sister Wives because I was hoping to see something between all four wives. It turned out exactly as I thought it would. They never blended and were never cohesive as a “family” unit. Especially when the majority of the children had grown and moved out. I will not watch any of the future Sister Wives. Although I like Robyn, the story ends there. I would watch any future spin off for Christine, Janelle and any of their children. Good Luck TLC!
