Wess Schulze proudly shows off his latest milestone with Instagram followers
When My 600-Lb. Life guests find success with Dr. Now’s program, they often experience a series of “firsts” and major milestones. That’s exactly what Season 11 star Wess Schulze wanted to celebrate this week.
Wess didn’t reveal his current weight, but he did share that he was now able to buckle in his seatbelt. That’s something he struggled with for years.
“OMG IT FITS! I’ve had this car for 4 years and have never been able to wear a seatbelt! Small steps towards milestone moments ❤️❤️” Wess captioned his latest Instagram update. He uploaded several photos of himself posing happily with his seatbelt buckled in.
“Yay, I love this for you! 👏” one fan applauded the Texas native in the comments.
“Fantastic job! Your hard work, sacrifice and loving yourself are paying off. You are looking so much happier. I love it,” another added.

Did Wess’ father ever change his ways?
When Wess’ episode aired, fans really weren’t at all impressed with his father. Wess’ father never really seemed to be comfortable with his son being part of the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, Wess even admitted that he felt like his family wanted him to stay in the closet.
On top of that, Wess bravely tried to discuss his childhood trauma with his father, who largely brushed it off. Based on the episode, many fans concluded that Wess probably also used food as an emotional crutch since he received little compassion or support from his dad.
It’s unknown if Wess’ father had a change of heart, but thankfully the TLC star seems to be in a much happier place right now.
