Al Roker Lies On Floor During ‘Today’ Fitness Segment
Al Roker lays on the floor during a fitness segment on the Today Show. The weatherman struggled to get back up on his feet during the live broadcast. As fans already know, Al has trouble with the fitness segments on the morning show. He’s gone through many health problems lately.
Al Rokers remains on the floor
Today Show co-anchor Al Roker remained on the floor during the fitness segment. On Monday’s episode of Today, the co-host joined Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Jacob Soboroff with SoulCycle’s Senior Master Instructor Laurie Cole. She had them do more than just ride a stationary bike.
Laurie showed the co-anchors a wide variety of exercises. Some of them included cardio and a foam rolling session. They had to get on the floor and lay on top of the foam rollers. The 68-year-old made his way onto the exercise mat as he used the foam roller. The health coach shared some of the benefits of foam rollers.
She touted the importance of incorporating foam rolling into your exercise routine. The co-anchors did the best they could to demonstrate the product. Some of them had trouble with their lunges. Things got more intense as Laurie instructed them to do a quad roll on the foam roller.
This move requires using both your upper and lower strength. You have to lift your knees off the floor as you balance on your forearms. From there, you would move the roller back and forth underneath your body. Craig, Dylan, and Jacob manage to get into that position while Al Roker just lies there.
At first, fans wondered if he was refusing to participate. Al lays there during the remainder of the segment. He joked, “I’m just gonna stay down here; it’s good.” He didn’t reveal if he was struggling to get back up.
Today Show co-host has health problems
Al Roker has dealt with his share of health problems. He was in and out of the hospital from November through December. Doctors found multiple blood clots throughout his legs and lungs. Al revealed that he also has to undergo knee replacement surgery.
His hasn’t let his medical issues stop him from co-hosting the morning show. Still, fans are worried about the fan-favorite. This isn’t the first time that Al Roker struggled with a fitness segment. Last month, he sparked concern among viewers when he couldn’t follow a simple routine for fast walking and marching.
