Did Taylor Swift Tease Breakup On ‘Eras Tour’?
Fans wonder if Taylor Swift teased her breakup on her Eras Tour. She added a breakup song to her set list just weeks before news broke about her split from actor Joe Alwyn. The two dated for six years before it came to an end. It didn’t end up in a dramatic style, it just ran its course. Keep on reading to learn more.
Taylor Swift & Joe Alwyn split
On Saturday, April 8, Swifties were in shock when their favorite pop star ended her relationship with Joe Alwyn. A source close to the former couple confirmed to People they went their separate ways just weeks ago. They first started dating in late November 2016. However, the news first swirled in May 2017.
It’s unclear how Taylor and Joe first met. The two may have first crossed paths at the 2016 Met Gala. During that time, Taylor was on the heels of her split from DJ Calvin Harris. She also had a brief fling with Loki star Tom Hiddleston.
Joe and Taylor were a very private couple. They rarely posted photos on social media and they never attended red-carpet events together. The Favourite star rarely talked about their relationship in interviews. Back in 2019, Joe explained why he didn’t want to talk about their love life to the press.
“I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” Joe told The Guardian.
However, that hasn’t stopped the two from working together. Joe even collaborated with Taylor Swift on her surprise album, Folklore. She originally credited him with the pen name William Bowery. Taylor later changed it and Joe ended up winning a Grammy from that.
He’s credited as a co-writer on “Betty” and “Exile” from Folklore and “Champagne Problems,” “Coney Island,” and “Evermore” on Evermore. In her Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, Taylor shared that their collaborations took place during quarantine in March 2020. They enjoyed making music together.
Drops hint on Eras Tour?
Swifties picked up a hint from her highly anticipated Eras Tour. As they know, Taylor Swift loves to drop Easter eggs in her music. She could’ve hinted about a split just weeks prior. The 33-year-old changed the first song on her setlist titled “Invisible String.” The tune from Folklore talks about wanting to marry her soulmate.
Taylor swapped it out for “The 1,” which reminisces on a relationship that once happened. She made the change on March 31 during her stop in Arlington, Texas. Taylor continued performing that song since. As soon as news of her split broke, fans on Twitter couldn’t help but notice if the setlist was changed because of recent events.
