A major change could be coming to the format of Survivor starting in Season 45. A rumor is circulating around Instagram and Reddit that might mean changing the viewing experience of the show forever. Survivor is a show that is known to change. Yet, with the last four seasons all looking fairly similar, it has some fans wondering if something big is on the horizon. Nothing is known about Season 45 of the show thus far. So if this is the first info about Survivor 45, it’s certainly something to be excited about.
90 Minute Episodes
The rumor began via the @realitytv_fan account on Instagram. It’s been making the rounds through Reddit recently, though, which has other sources saying the rumor may just be true. It’s all about the runtime of each episode of the show. It seems as though every episode may be getting longer starting with Season 45. They would be extending from the current 60 minutes up to 90-minute episodes. Right now, 90-minute episodes are only done at the premiere and the finale of each season. So if regular episodes move up to 90 minutes then this may mean 120-minute premieres and finales. That is a lot more Survivor.
There was a lot of speculation that CBS was moving toward this decision during Season 43. This is because it was the first season with a 90-minute episode that wasn’t a premiere or a finale. Episode 2 had the extended extra 30 minutes, leading many to believe that maybe the waters were being tested for a permanent change. This rumor may confirm that speculation. All sources right now say there is no 100% confirmation. It’s unlikely viewers will truly know until after the Season 44 finale.
Survivor 45
As of right now, no other firm details about Survivor Season 45 are known. There is speculation that it could be the end of this “Post-COVID” era format that fans have been watching since Season 41. An era with no season themes, a lot of new advantages, and a shortened survival time from 39 to 26 days.
Many are hoping to see some changes to this format moving forward as the 26-day seasons have been largely panned. Granted, they were necessary due to COVID filming restrictions. However, Jeff Probst has made comments saying 26 days are here to stay, and many fans are resisting that idea. If the change to 90-minute episodes comes with a change back to Wou39-day seasons, it’s safe to say the hype for Season 45 will be high. Next, they just need to do a season somewhere other than Fiji for the first time in years.
