Digimon Adventure 02, one of the most popular anime in the franchise, is returning with a brand-new movie.
Fans got the announcement for Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning back in mid-2022. It’s the follow-up to the reboot of the original hit digital monsters anime, Digimon Adventure. A series that has been on a major comeback in recent years with multiple new seasons and movies. Finally, the official trailer is here, giving out the release date as well as a first look at what to expect. It seems as though the stakes are high for the second wave of Digidestined. All of whom look particularly grown up in this trailer. Let’s talk about what to expect from Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
The Return Of Digimon Adventure 02
The trailer, which is fairly brief at only 30 seconds long, hit the Internet recently. It came with a poster showcasing some juicy details about the upcoming revival movie.
There is confirmation that a decent amount of the original creative team along with the entire original Japanese voice cast will be returning for this film. As far as the English dub goes, there isn’t any confirmation about the original English voice actors or when that dub will be coming. The Japanese release of the movie has a release date set for October 27th, though.
The premise of the film surrounds a giant Digi-Egg that appears in the sky. At the same time, Motomiya and his group save a boy named Owada Rui, who claims to be the very first Digidestined.
It’s a very interesting concept that seems as though it will further explore the lore of the Digimon Adventure universe. It’s unknown if iconic DA02 concepts like Armor Digivolution will be returning for this movie. There is also hope from fans of the original anime that this cast will be getting a revival season similar to Digimon Adventure Tri. None of these things are official as of right now. But it’s possible there will be more details and confirmations to questions like these as the release date of the movie approaches.
Digivolution
Digimon has gone through a resurgence recently in both the realms of anime and video games. Digimon Ghost Game has been very successful in Japan and is getting ready to air its finale episode. Sadly, while there are English subtitles, an official English dub for that show has never been announced. The Digimon Adventure revival season and movies have gotten English dubs, however. So it’s very likely that Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning will get one on Crunchyroll.
