Tyra Banks Forces ‘DWTS’ To Announce New Host, Familiar Face?
Tyra Banks is officially out at Dancing With The Stars, according to the former hostess herself. She’s reportedly leaving her three-year run on the show to focus on other pursuits — including running her own ice cream line.
TMZ broke the shocking news recently, which apparently even threw the DWTS exec team for a loop. Apparently, they had no idea Tyra Banks was planning to part ways with the series. This isn’t news that any exec wants to hear from a third-party news outlet.
Execs already confirmed that DWTS Season 32 is happening on Disney+ this fall. In other words, they instantly started looking for her replacement.
The search didn’t take long though! After just a few short days,a familiar face has announced they have been tapped by the exec team to rejoin the show.
But who is it?
Tyra Banks is going to be replaced with an old DWTS favorite
Dancing With The Stars fans raged online when the show announced they fired Tom Bergeron and replaced him with Tyra Banks just before Season 29. Some were willing to give the supermodel a chance but quickly realized that her hosting skills just weren’t working.
Even onscreen, many cast members seemed annoyed with Tyra’s jokes and overall stage presence.
To balance things out, execs added Alfonso Ribeiro as a cohost in Season 31. Now, they’ve finally found a replacement for her.
Today, former DWTS pro Julianne Hough confirmed that she will be taking over Tyra Banks’ hosting duties this fall. Alfonso Ribeiro will return as her cohost.
“It is such an honor to be rejoining Dancing With The Stars as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” the 34-year-old told Variety exclusively.
“The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years,” she continued. “I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor. The energy is magnetic every time you step foot into the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again — and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season.”
The show’s official Twitter account also confirmed the news with a special shoutout to announce Julianne Hough’s big return to the ballroom.

The Hough siblings will reunite in the ballroom this fall
As seasoned DWTS fans recall, Julianne Hough is Derek Hough’s younger sister. The pair used to compete against each other in the show’s early days as pros. It will definitely be interesting to see their dynamic now that Derek is a judge and Julianne is the newest cohost.
Many viewers sincerely hoped that the show would rehire Tom Bergeron if they ever decided to part ways with Tyra Banks, but that seems not to be the case. But hopefully, Julianne will be able to bring back some of the magic that fans grew to love over the years.
