‘600-Lb Life’ Stephanie Smith BLOCKS Dr. Now, Nothing But Lies?
The newest member of the My 600-Lb. Life cast, Stephanie Smith, ends her episode tonight by blocking Dr. Now and claiming that his weight loss program won’t help her with her problems. Sadly, the episode ends with her stepfather continuing to enable her as he seemingly agrees that they’ve tried “or pretended to try” lots of different options that haven’t helped Stephanie lose weight.
My 600-Lb. Life: Meet Stephanie Smith
Tonight’s episode of My 600-Lb. Life introduces fans to Season 11 cast member Stephanie Smith. Hailing from Anacortes, Washington, this 36-year-old mother-of-three hasn’t had a very easy life. Sadly, Stephanie reveals that at the same time, she learned her father had passed, her mother was reported to CPS and she was taken away from her mother without having a chance to properly grieve the passing of her father.
Stephanie explains she spent about four years in foster care. Her mother found Marvin and was able to get her life back together. Then, she tracked down her children and got them back.
Now, at 611 pounds, Stephanie Smith relies on the support of her mother and her stepfather to help take care of her and her three children (fathered by three different men). As Tv Shows Ace previously reported, Stephanie’s Facebook profile suggests she’s married (and has been since 2016). But, there is no additional information on who her husband is/was and he was not featured on the show. In fact, while she was telling her story, most assumed she was a single mother of three living with her mother and her mother’s husband.
She BLOCKED Dr. Now and quit the program
By the end of the episode, Dr. Now tells Stephanie Smith there is no point in coming back to Houston until she starts losing 25 pounds a month as he requested of her. So, he sets things up for her to go to a local doctor to get her weight checked regularly. And, he planned to check in with her after these appointments. Stephanie makes the decision not to go to these local appointments and stops answering Dr. Now’s phone calls. Dr. Now later tells the camera he believes he’s been blocked by Stephanie as he can no longer get in contact with her.
Dr. Now tells the camera that he believes Stephanie was hoping weight loss surgery would be an easy solution to her problem and that she could manipulate her way into getting it the same way she controls her family. He, however, suspects that when she realized he could not be manipulated, she blocked his number and stopped showing up for appointments.
Dr. Now ends the episode by letting everyone know the door is always open for Stephanie if things turn around and she decides she is serious about wanting to make a change. Sadly, however, there is nothing he can do to help her if she is not first willing to help herself.
