GMA meteorologist talks about his retirement
Sam Champion talked about the time when he retired from GMA. It was a sad day for fans of the favorite weatherman. In his new Instagram video, Sam was asked about the time he retired. He went on a lengthy break to spend more time with his husband Rubem Robierb in Brazil. The couple just celebrated their tenth anniversary there last month.
Sam loves the laid-back lifestyle there. However, he returned from his retirement in June 2019, to the shock of fans. During his walk on Miami Beach, Sam chatted with his fans on Instagram Live. He explained why he decided to get back to work.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant was absent from Good Morning America on Saturday. He had a “vacation day,” which felt like a “normal day” for him since he didn’t do anything special. Sam shared his new work schedule with his fans.
“I work four days a week now,” Sam Champion said in the video. “But that’s because I came out of retirement.”
The reason why he returned in 2019 was “because I was a little bored and Channel 7 offered me the option and didn’t want to work a full week.” Sam also shared that the sun damaged his skin. Spending most of his days in the sun sounded like a dream. He didn’t like the results.
“My mom is what 86 now and her skin looks so much better than my skin,” Sam Champion said with a laugh.
He doesn’t want to spend a lot of time in the sun. Sam and Rubem moved back to New York City, where he returned to work. It was the perfect time for him to return to his career. During the Instagram Live chat, Sam admitted that he is trying to get back into shape again.
Sam Champion is getting back to working out
He went through a slump during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sam Champion worked hard on his physique when he competed on DWTS Season 31. He shared videos of himself in the gym every morning. Sam temporarily went to Los Angeles with his husband for those weeks of training.
Sam Champion admitted that it was the hardest thing he’s ever done in his life. He would end up sore at times. Now, he’s trying to get his body back as he’s been taking more long walks to improve his fitness. Fans agreed that “long walks” are a good way to get back into shape.
