In his latest video, Sam Champion warned fans about an online scam. He has been the target of an Instagram scammer that is attracting GMA fans. Sam told them to call the police. Sometimes impersonators will ask for money from unassuming victims.

On Friday, February 10, one fan took to Sam Champion’s Instagram video to warn him about the impersonator. In the clip, Sam and his husband Rubem Robierb were at the airport after their Brazilian vacation. In the now-deleted comment, the user wrote: “Just so you know, somebody was impersonating you.”

According to the fan, the impersonator was “asking me for money for orphans. I just thought you’d wanna know that. I thought it was really you.”

Sam Champion responded: “Please report!! And if they scammed you for money. Call the police!!!”

Back in January, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant went to Ipanema, Rio De Janeiro with his husband. They celebrated their wedding anniversary. The couple also shared many photos and clips of themselves in their Speedos. Sam also grew out his hair and had stubble.

Fans were mixed about his vacation look. Some begged Sam to get a haircut and leave the Speedos at home. Sam Champion told one fan to simply “don’t wear one.” Others were in adoration of the couple. They shared their appreciation for their beach photos.

GMA star speaks out on death threats

Sam Champion also spoke out about online death threats. He shared his support for journalist Janice Yu on Twitter after she revealed that a man told her that she should die just for doing her job. Sam warned how this field can be dangerous for journalists.

The weatherman received support from his fans who shared some of their own horror stories. “My oldest daughter is a journalist and she deals with this constantly,” one fan wrote. Sam’s comments come after he almost swore off Twitter. Thankfully for fans, he stuck around even though it’s undergone many changes in recent months.
