Gwendlyn Brown Puts TLC On Blast For Trying To Exploit Her Sexuality
Christine and Kody Brown’s daughter Gwendlyn isn’t pulling any punches in regard to her thoughts of TLC and filming Sister Wives. Per her most recent upload to YouTube, the TLC personality reveals the network was super interested in her sexuality amid her parents’ divorce. In fact, Gwendlyn believes the network wanted to exploit the fact that she was bisexual in order to spice things up with an alternative story arc during her parents’ divorce.
Gwendlyn Brown furious at TLC for exploiting her
While watching and reacting to a Sister Wives episode that originally aired back in October, Gwendlyn Brown points out that if fans thought she looked furious during one particular scene it is because she was, in fact, furious. She explained that she was under the impression she was being set up to talk about her mother and father getting a divorce. Instead, however, the network was more interested in talking about her sexuality instead.
I look so mad in the moment, and I wasn’t even upset. I was a little disappointed I thought we were going to talk about the divorce. And all of the sudden, they were like, ‘We’re going to talk about your sexuality, Gwendlyn.’ They were like, ‘Ooh, we have another queer. We’re going to exploit that. And make ourselves famous.'”
Attempting to protect herself from the wrath of the network, Kody and Christine’s daughter did take a step back and clarified that she was just expressing how she felt at the moment. And, that may not even be what was actually happening.
She added: “I’m sure it’s not, but it did feel weird. They also had me talk about my autism here too. I was like, ‘That’s weird.’ I thought we were going to talk about my parents’ divorce.”
What happened during this episode?
It was during this episode, that Gwendlyn Brown opened up about being bisexual. She revealed on the episode: “I’m bisexual. I’m not only attracted to women. I’m also attracted to men and people who fall into other gender spectrums.”
The episode also featured Christine Brown admitting she had known Gwendlyn was bisexual long before she came out to the family. Christine recalled:
When [Leon] told us [they were] gay. Immediately I thought, ‘Oh, so is Gwendlyn.’ I knew immediately. We’ve had just great conversations about it.”
Christine Brown proceeded to reassure fans during the episode that she and Gwen have a pretty healthy relationship about it. So much so that Gwen actually teases her mom for having a few crushes on various female celebrities including Blake Lively, Kelly Clarkson, and Emily Blunt.
Watching and reacting to the episode, Gwendlyn Brown admits to fans that her sexuality really wasn’t supposed to be the focal point as she thought she was there to share her thoughts on the divorce.
