Tammy Slaton Nearly Dies Twice In Terrifying Season 4 Premiere
In a terrifying 1000-Lb. Sisters Season 4 Premiere, Tammy Slaton nearly dies TWICE. With the way Season 3 concluded and the details that have been leaked via social media and media outlets, TLC fans were well aware of the medical emergency the Season 4 Premiere was kicking off with. Fans, however, were thrown for a loop when Tammy Slaton nearly dies a second time toward the end of the episode.

Tammy Slaton nearly dies twice during Season 4 Premiere
The beginning of the 1000-Lb. Sisters Season 4 Premiere gave fans the additional information they ended following how Season 3 ended. As fans know, Tammy did make the decision to go to rehab. She went to rehab. However, she was there for no time at all before having a medical emergency and getting rushed to the hospital. She was septic and not breathing. They put her on life support and she ended up getting a trach. Her family didn’t know if she would wake up. But, she did. Her siblings told the cameras this was her 3rd or 4th time cheating death.
Toward the end of the episode, at 3:09 a.m., the nurses’ station at the rehab center receives an alert of a medical emergency in Tammy’s room. She’s not breathing. Tammy recalls being terrified as it felt like everything was moving in slow motion and there was nothing she could do to tell people she couldn’t get any oxygen.
Ultimately, the medical team at the rehab facility discovers that Tammy’s trach got clogged. And, it was preventing any oxygen from getting into her body. They were able to suction the mucus plug from the trach tube and save her life. Tammy admits she’s laughing and trying to make light of the situation. In the moment, however, it was terrifying for her. She thought she was going to die.
Tammy Slaton acknowledged it was “gross,” but she wanted to paint a picture of what happened. She explains that when her mucus gets too thick it can cause her trach to clog. So, she joked, that she basically got a giant booger stuck in her throat that prevented her from breathing.
