Today show weathercaster Al Roker felt shame in his children seeing him vulnerable amid his health crisis. The 68-year-old recently recovered from internal bleeding and blood clots in his legs and lungs. He also returned to the show last week and received a warm welcome from viewers as well as his co-hosts. Al Roker’s Wife And Children Nursed Him To Health
While the favorite weather reporter is back in Studio 1A and fans are thrilled at his return, it cannot be compared to how relieved his family back at home is. Al Roker is now happy and thriving thanks to his wife, Deborah Roberts, and children who helped him through his crisis and nursed him to health. Recently, in an interview, his wife spoke of the struggles and said, “the toughest thing we’ve endured as a family and as a couple.”

Al Roker’s hospitalization kept him away from home for weeks during the holiday season and away from the Today show for two months.
Al Roker Doesn’t Want His Kids To See Him Vulnerable
Now that he is back for good, the weathercaster shared how hated for his kids to see him vulnerable. In an interview with Today, he revealed, “I don’t know it’s a guy thing, but as a dad, you just don’t want your kids to see you vulnerable. You’re supposed to be their strength. And in fact, they were my strength. Home is where your family is. It’s where you thrive. That’s the best medicine I could get.”

He also explained how his son used to check on him every few minutes and kiss him on the head trying to stay positive amid the crisis. Al’s wife and ABC reporter, Deborah also described the ordeal as a scary one. However, Al never really got to know how scared they really were. They kept up a brave face to help him heal. Talking about his loving family, he said, “If I had really known how bad it was, I don’t know if I could have kept up the positive attitude. I didn’t know they were out in the hall crying.”
Al Roker’s Health Troubles Started With Stomach Pain
Roker’s health crisis started in early November. He woke up in the middle of the night complaining of severe stomach pains. He soon went to see his internist who ran some scans that revealed he had blood clots in his lungs. The weatherman immediately got himself admitted to New York City’s Weill Cornell Medical Center on November 11.
