Bringing Up Bates star Carlin Bates Stewart is sharing a genius holiday hack for large families. The daughter of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates has learned a thing or two about celebrating Christmas and other holidays with many siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. As fans can imagine, holidays are no easy task for Kelly and Gil’s family of 21, plus their many sons and daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. It’s a challenge to coordinate everyone’s schedules around Christmastime, so they celebrate a week or two in advance. Carlin Bates’ parents have said before that they don’t want their kids to have to decide where to celebrate the holidays. It’s easier for everyone if they have their Christmas festivities earlier in the month so all of the families can make it.
Now, Carlin Bates is sharing another brilliant holiday idea, which happens to come from her in-laws, the Stewarts.
Carlin Bates Shares Genius Holiday Hack For Large Families
Because Evan and Carlin were able to celebrate Christmas with the Bates family a couple of weeks ago, they are now visiting his side of the family. It sounds like they’ll be there through New Year’s Day, so they are soaking up lots of quality time together.
On her Instagram Stories, Carlin Bates has given fans a peek into the festivities. As she shared a snap of her dog, Izzy, laying around in the living room, she also showed off her mother-in-law Denese Stewart’s stocking solution. Carlin’s husband Evan has five siblings. There are nine grandchildren as well. So, all of their stockings cannot be hung on the mantel.
Instead, Evan’s parents hung a curtain rod under the mantel and hung each stocking by its loop. You can see the photo below.
