‘The Proud Family’ Reboot Gets A Premiere Date For Season 2
Disney+’s The Proud Family reboot series finally has a premiere date for Season 2. The animated TV show created by Ralph Farquhar and Bruce W. Smith, titled, The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder premiered on the streaming platform on February 23, 2022. It is a soft reboot/revival of the original series that aired on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005 with two seasons and 52 episodes. So, when does Season 2 premiere on Disney+? Two months following the reboot’s debut season premiere, the animated series was renewed for a second season on April 2022. With an average runtime of 27 to 30 minutes per episode, Season 1 has received mostly positive reviews. The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder series is the journey of 16-year-old girl Penny Proud as she explores her family dynamics in the 2020s.

The forthcoming series builds off the success of the debut season and continues to tell some funny and entertaining stories. Moreover, it also highlights the culturally specific experiences of the Black community and addresses universal family topics as well. Some storylines to make it to the upcoming season includes interracial dating, Juneteenth, and self-worth exploration.

The Proud Family Reboot Season 2 Introduces LGBTQ+ Characters
As reported by ComicBook, Season 2 will premiere on February 1, 2023, on Disney+. Before the premiere of the show, creator Farquhar explained that the premise will be more direct and upfront in discussing present-day social issues. He confirmed that rather than opting for coded language (as seen in the original show), the reboot show is as forthright as it gets.

Moreover, he explained that the introduction of new LGBTQ+ characters is a major change the viewers can expect in the show. In the original series, the characters had to use code to indicate if Michael was gay or to discuss any character’s sexuality. This changes with The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder. Additionally, the reboot series is rated TV-PG which makes it Disney’s first animated series to have this rating.
