The Proud Family Reboot Season 2 Introduces LGBTQ+ Characters
As reported by ComicBook, Season 2 will premiere on February 1, 2023, on Disney+. Before the premiere of the show, creator Farquhar explained that the premise will be more direct and upfront in discussing present-day social issues. He confirmed that rather than opting for coded language (as seen in the original show), the reboot show is as forthright as it gets.
Moreover, he explained that the introduction of new LGBTQ+ characters is a major change the viewers can expect in the show. In the original series, the characters had to use code to indicate if Michael was gay or to discuss any character’s sexuality. This changes with The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder. Additionally, the reboot series is rated TV-PG which makes it Disney’s first animated series to have this rating.
