Johnathan Schaech Hints At A ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Spinoff

Fans Rally For Renewal Of Legends Of Tomorrow
DC’s future has been the topic of discussion since Peter Safran and James Gunn were hired as the DC Studios’ co-CEOs. This move came amid several changes that happened throughout the year, including the cancellation of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow on The CW. Fans have taken to social media to showcase their disappointment with campaigns aiming for the show’s revival. They even asked for its characters to get a sort of spinoff.

Heeding fans’ demands, Johnathan took to Twitter to pitch a spinoff series for his version of Jonah Hex that was seen in the canceled series.

William Shatner, well-known for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek, shared and endorsed the tweet.
James Gunn Wishes To Revive Legends Of Tomorrow
This call for a spinoff comes days after Gunn addressed the efforts to revive Legends Of Tomorrow and to release 2016’s Suicide Squad’s “Ayer Cut.”
He tweeted, “our initial focus is on the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects.”

Schaech was a part of Legends Of Tomorrow since its first season. He has talked about what Jonah Hex stories he wishes to see realized onscreen. Back in 2018, in an interview, he said, “I think Jonah has a lot to say about a lot of things that we’re dealing with. He’s a very masculine man, but he’s been through enough to understand a lot of what goes on inside. So anything is history, like what we’re dealing with today with our racism problems.”
Reason Behind Legends Of Tomorrow‘s Cancellation
As per ComicBook, shortly after Legends Of Tomorrow was canceled, Mark Pedowitz, former The CW president wanted to renew it alongside Batwoman for additional seasons. However, Warner Bros. Discovery axed the shows because they didn’t want to pay the lease for the studio space. The lease expired on May 1. Even the creator Keto Shimizu hinted that he hopes the story could continue in another form.
