‘DWTS’: Gabby Windey Isn’t Sad About Having A Different Partner
Bachelor Nation’s Gabby Windey has been one of the frontrunners on DWTS this season. Right from the start, she and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were determined to prove that they were serious about winning the Mirrorball Trophy.
However, Val contracted COVID-19 in the days leading up to Halloween Night, which meant he couldn’t perform. Thankfully, pro Alan Bersten stepped in for Val. He and his partner Jessie James Decker had just left the competition the week before.
Although it took Gabby a second to get used to a brand new partner, she’s not at all sad that she partnered with Alan instead of Val this week. What did she have to say about the unexpected challenge?
Gabby Windey enjoyed having a new challenge this week
Gabby Windey admitted she felt afraid at first when she heard Val contracted COVID-19. But thankfully, he is healing well and Gabby tested negative. That meant she could still perform on Halloween Night.
A similar situation happened earlier in the season when Daniella Karagach tested positive. Troupe member Alexis Warr stepped in to dance with Daniella’s partner, Joseph Baena.
“Alan’s a great partner and a great teacher and a great performer, so I feel like I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to step in for Val,” Gabby told PEOPLE after the episode ended. The 28-year-old took home the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 28 when he partnered with Bachelor Nation’s Hannah Brown.
Although learning to work with a new partner was challenging, Gabby didn’t let it bother her too much. She and Alan took home a 38/40 for their Argentine Tango to “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran.
“I think this week definitely made me a better dancer dancing with Alan, and I feel like we jumped through a lot of and hurdles and still ended up on top, so it feels good,” Gabby continued. While she did miss Val, she wasn’t sad about being challenged and trying something new.
Val Chmerkovskiy reportedly praised the couple for the routine after the episode ended. He was just as proud of them.
What’s the state of The Bachelorette star’s engagement?
For a few days now, many of Gabby’s fans suspected that she quietly ended her engagement to Erich Schwer. He hasn’t been seen in the ballroom’s audience section for a while and fans are wondering where he went.
“Life is just really busy for the both of us right now. So I understand their concern but we’re just kind of, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar,” Gabby told Fox News Digital.
This was the worst possible way to say “Erich and I broke up”
