‘Masked Singer’ Jenny McCarthy Reveals The Diet That Almost Killed Her
Many celebrities fall prey to the infamous diet culture. But Jenny McCarthy admits that one diet in particular almost ended her life.
The Masked Singer judge bravely opened up about the frightening experience and shared some wisdom with listeners. Learn what eventually saved her life and what she wanted to share with fans.
The Masked Singer‘s Jenny McCarthy “Nearly Died” While On A Popular Diet
Fruits and vegetables are part of a healthy diet. But everything must be done in moderation. While speaking to Maria Menounos on her Heal Squad podcast, Jenny McCarthy admitted that going vegan almost destroyed her.
“I tried vegan and I almost died. I literally almost died,” the Masked Singer star confessed during the interview, detailing how ill she felt while following a vegan diet.

While veganism can have wonderful benefits for some people, it wasn’t a good fit for Jenny McCarthy at all. She found it insanely difficult to eat enough calories to sustain life because of her food intolerances. Celiac disease, a soy allergy, and a dairy intolerance are just some of Jenny’s dietary concerns. There just simply weren’t enough vegan foods that were accessible for her to consume.
“I can’t have carbs and everything is a carb. I’m also allergic to soy and everything [has soy],” Jenny shared, admitting that she was “literally dying” from her vegan diet.
Jenny McCarthy Details Her Significant Health Issues
Sadly, that’s not where Jenny McCarthy’s health issues end. In the interview, the 52-year-old discussed her battle with Hashimoto’s disease, a fungal infection known as Candida, and leaky gut syndrome.
“Healing leaky gut and candida can take years. It 100 percent takes years,” Jenny shared. “So I did all kinds of diets… I also have MCAS, a histamine intolerance, so I went on a low-histamine diet, I went on every one of them.”
After consulting with a doctor, Jenny decided a carnivore diet might be the right move. This meal plan includes primarily meat-based products, including eggs and fish.

Thankfully, this dietary change has been more beneficial for the Masked Singer star. Jenny admitted she was hesitant to go carnivore, but she’s been happy with the results.
“It changed my energy and my digestion. I have been a constipated little girl since I was younger,” she admitted, sharing that she’s had to get enemas since childhood.
The Masked Singer Judge Encourages Others To Do What’s Right For Their Body
But at the end of the day, Jenny wants everyone to choose the right diet for their own body. She acknowledged that veganism didn’t work for her, but it might be the perfect diet for someone else.
“It’s what you believe and you have to follow your intuition and then also follow what your blood says or what your body says. Your body will let you know, by the way,” Jenny declared.
