Who Is Skaar From The ‘She-Hulk’ Season Finale?
The first season of She-Hulk ended in a very surprising manner. Outside of the unusual way that the show ended, very different from any Marvel project seen before, there was also an off-handed introduction.
Hulk showed back up and introduced his son, Skaar. Here is what you need to know about this scene, and who Skaar is in Marvel Comics.
What happened at the end of She-Hulk?
The entire final episode of She-Hulk was bizarre, but it perfectly fit what came before it. This was not a show about a superhero battling supervillains. She-Hulk was set up as a sitcom with a lawyer who gained superpowers trying to accept who she was. At the same time, she had to deal with the men who exist online just to tear down women on social media.
She-Hulk would not let the season end with some giant superhero battle and went to Marvel Studios to make sure they didn’t do so. After finally convincing the big brain behind Marvel (a robot representing Marvel bigwig Kevin Feige) to change things, the show went to the conclusion. No one saw anything that happened and She-Hulk got to hook up with Daredevil again.
She wanted the show to focus on her and not shoehorn in some male hero. This was important since the entire season was spent showing these men who feel superior to women to the point of insecurity. However, She-Hulk did add in one scene at the end that took the focus completely off Jennifer. That was when Hulk showed up with his son Skaar.
Who is Skaar in She-Hulk?
Hulk left She-Hulk early in the season when he was called back to Sakaar, the planet Thor found him on in Thor: Ragnarok. Apparently, when Hulk was there, he got someone pregnant and a son was born. That is Skaar.
This is from the comics, although in a very different manner. In the comics, it was the Illuminati (a version of that superhero team from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that Wanda killed) who banished Hulk to Sakaar. In the comics, he freed all the people from the evil man who forced them into a gladiator battle and then became king himself.
He married a very powerful alien woman who led the rebellion against the former ruler and they lived happily together. However, after revealing she was pregnant with their child, an explosion killed her and many of Hulk’s new friends. That brought him back to Earth in a rage to get revenge for his banishment. What he didn’t know was that the baby survived thanks to his alien mother and Hulk’s father’s combined survival powers.
More To The Story?
Skaar then grew up alone and was angry at his father for “abandoning” him. He came to Earth for revenge of his own but ended up eventually coming around and becoming an antihero in his own right. As for She-Hulk, it looks like Skaar is a teen now, and that might make him a little more like angsty Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy instead of an evil son of Hulk. Either way, another hero just entered the MCU.
Wil Deusner, who previously appeared on DC’s Stargirl signed on to play Skaar in the MCU. It is unclear when Skaar will return in the movies or Disney+ Marvel world. However, there has been a push for teenage heroes in the universe. He would join Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, America Chavez, and Peter Parker’s Spider-Man as part of the next generation of heroes.
