Some even claim that she’s self-centered. However, Kelly feels that their banter is what makes co-hosting with his work so well. Even though she had several co-hosts in mind, she wanted someone who was a longtime friend.

She admitted that she knows a lot about “good on-screen chemistry.” So, it was important for Kelly to work with someone like Ryan Seacrest, who she’s familiar with. In her extensive interview with The Wall Street Journal, she admitted that she prefers to “work with my friends.”

What was also important for her is working with a co-host who she can have “deep workplace discussions” with. Kelly wanted someone who “involved” her in every aspect of their career. Ryan Seacrest replaced Michael Strahan, who made his surprising exit from Live. To this day, Kelly feels hurt and betrayed by the Good Morning America host.

Ryan Seacrest celebrates Kelly Ripa

On Sunday, October 2, Ryan Seacrest took to social media to celebrate Kelly Ripa. He shared many photos of the two together on Instagram and his Facebook page. The first photo showed them boogying behind the scenes of Live With Kelly and Ryan. He included other snapshots of candid moments on the morning show.

He shared with his fans that today was her birthday. Ryan wanted to celebrate the former soap star who has a lengthy resume and a long list of credits to her name.

“Happy birthday to a dear friend, co-host, brilliant author, and devoted wife & mother,” Ryan Seacrest wrote in the post. “It’s a privilege and a joy to get to work with you everyday. [SIC] Cheers @kellyripa!”

Fans took to the comment section to share well wishes. Most of them were positive. One wrote that they “love starting my mornings with you guys.” Others congratulated her on another milestone.

Kelly Ripa has another reason to celebrate

The 52-year-old has another reason to celebrate. She released her new book, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories on Tuesday, September 27. Kelly was shaking and sweating on release day. Even though Ryan Seacrest wasn’t there for her big moment, he still honored his friend by supporting her new book on social media.
