‘Overlord’ Isekai Anime Season 5: Updates & Premiere Date
Fans looking for a binge-worthy anime in the Isekai genre love to brag about the exceptional storytelling seen in the popular anime Overlord. Based on a light novel series of the same name, it was produced by Kazufumi Kikushima and written by Yukie Sugawara. The anime entails Momonga, who is the master of the dark guild named Ainz Ooal Gown. He is crushed by the fact that the developers of his treasured VR game Yggdrasil plan to end it for good.

As he comes to terms with the end of the game, he decides to spend the last few hours enjoying it. However, what happens next changes everything for him. Despite the fact that the proposed shutdown time had passed, he was still in the game world. Upon realizing that he has no way out of the situation, he accepts his new reality. The thing that happens next outlines the story of the anime series as Momonga embarks on his new journey.

The series first premiered on July 7, 2015, and is considered one of the best shows in the Isekai genre to date. It has also received critics’ approval given its brilliant character development and captivating storytelling.
Overlord Season 4 Premiered In July With Thirteen Episodes
Now, seven years later, the show is still just as exceptional and has a massive global fan base. Overlord has a total of four seasons. The latest season premiered on July 5, 2022, and aired till September 27, 2022.

Now that Season 4 is wrapped up, fans are curious to learn whether there will be a fifth season. The fourth season comprised a total of thirteen episodes with a runtime of approximately 23 minutes each. As per Dual Shockers, fans eager for the show’s return will have to wait for a long time. Studio Madhouse, which is in charge of the production, hasn’t yet announced anything related to the show’s future.

However, fans will get to see the events that happen after Season 4 in an anime movie that recounts Aainz’s story. The movie was announced in 2021 and adapts the Holy Kingdom Arc from the novel. It is currently under production and is expected to release sometime around mid-2023.
When Will Overlord Season 5 Premiere?
Overlord Season 4 received appreciation from fans and critics which makes it near-certain that the show will have another season. However, when this happens is a big uncertainty. Given the lack of source material, it is highly likely that the production will be pushed back a couple of years. It is likely that Season 5 will premiere sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.
