‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Slammed For Dissing Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral
Hoda Kotb is under heavy fire for being tone deaf and her lack of awareness during her coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Today co-stars Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie had the honor of sitting with their colleagues Wilfred Frost and Lester Holt at a news desk in London on Monday to host special coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Savannah Guthrie shared a photo promoting the coverage on Instagram six hours ago. The Today Show also shared the same photo on Twitter.
In response to both the photo on Twitter and the one on Instagram, viewers around the world were furious about how Savannah and Hoda handled the coverage of the international funeral. More specifically, shots were fired at Hoda Kotb for looking entirely too happy to be covering a funeral.
Hoda Kotb disses and disrespects at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral?
In a photo shared on multiple social media platforms, Hoda Kotb’s pearly white smile is being described as blinding. Many of those who tuned in to the special coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral wish Hoda would have read the room and learned to “tone it down.”
On Twitter, many were quick to call attention to the fact that Wilfred Frost and Lester Holt managed to carry themselves in a respectful manner with muted and serious expressions on their face. While Savannah did get blasted for smiling a little more than she should have, all the rage on social media appeared to be directed at Hoda. Here’s what some viewers had to say across multiple social media platforms:
- “Hoda looks a little too happy for a funeral.”
- “It’s a funeral. Why all the smiles?”
- “Why Hoda is so happy? It is rude.”
- “Everyone looks respectful except Hoda -why the giant smile?”
- “Why is Hoda smiling like it’s a party? She should be in NY doing 3rd hour.”
There was one individual who rushed in to defend Hoda. This individual claimed this was nothing more than a photo to promote the coverage. They continued to argue they were sure the team would be nothing but respectful during the coverage.
This is a picture letting you know about the coverage of the Queen’s funeral….this team works well together and I know will be very respectful once the coverage starts.”
There, however, were only a couple people willing to show any love to the comment above. Many others even chimed in that they would not be watching the special coverage.
