Hoda Kotb Sheds Tears During Sheryl’s Emmy Acceptance Speech

On Monday, the Today host took to social media as she confessed to crying as she watched a live TV moment. Apparently, she was watching the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards where Sheryl Lee Ralph won an Emmy as a first-time nominee. As per The Sun, the broadcast journalist shared a clip from the award show of Sheryl receiving her Emmy Award.

She captioned the video, “Sobbing! @thesherylleeralph this is YOUR TIME @abbottelemabc.”

While Hoda recorded the footage of the award show broadcasting Live on her TV, she can be heard sobbing in the background. More so, the clip shows an overwhelmed and joyous Sheryl walking up to the stage with a shocked look in the LA-based Microsoft Theater.

In her acceptance speech, the 65-year-old actress and activist sang about being an endangered species as she urged others to follow their dreams. She sang, “I am a woman, I am an artist/And I know where my voice belongs.” These were the lyrics to Dianne Reeves’ song Endangered Species.

Sheryl received the Emmy for ‘Best-Supporting Actress in a Comedy’ for her role as Barbara Howard, an Abbott Elementary kindergarten teacher. The show is a mockumentary that airs on ABC about a group of passionate teachers that connect together in a Philadelphia public school.
