Reba McEntire’s upcoming Lifetime movie The Hammer is a Reba reunion. She and Melissa Peterman are back together again in a movie that has humor, mystery, and a whole lotta Reba in it.

What Is Lifetime’s The Hammer About?
According to the Lifetime press release, Kim Wheeler (McEntire) is an outspoken, firecracker lawyer, who is one of a dwindling group. She is one of the few traveling judges left in America. More so, she has just been appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada.
After the reigning judge passes away under suspicious circumstances, Kim finds herself covering a circuit that stretches between Las Vegas and Reno. A lot like the Wild West, this is a rugged, often desolate area where anything and everything can happen.
With gavel in hand, she lays down the law with a no-nonsense brand of justice. Quickly, she earns the nickname “The Hammer.”
As the investigation of the former judge’s death heats up, Kim’s sister Kris (Peterman) becomes the prime suspect. Unlike her educated sister, Kris runs the local brothel. Because of the close family connection, Kim must work even harder to make certain the appropriate justice is served.
Reba McEntire Reunion With Melissa Peterman
Besides Melissa Peterman, McEntire’s former Reba sidekick, this Lifetime movie also stars the country superstar’s real-life boyfriend, Rex Linn. Linn portrays Bart Crawford, as a possible romantic interest. This guy is a suave and mysterious cowboy. Yet, we don’t know his motives amid this murder investigation.
In addition, Kay Shioma Metchie plays Vicky. She is another tough cookie, who is Kim’s trusted friend. She is the local bailiff who works alongside the firecracker judge.
We also know that Jeff Beesley (Just One Kiss, Project Christmas Wish) is the director. Karen Wyscarver (Taken, Boston Legal), and Sanford Golden wrote the script.

Will Reba McEntire Revive Reba?
Reba McEntire recently spoke to Deadline about a possible Reba revival. She started with the main problem. “So many obstacles.”
“The TV business changes so much that sometimes reboots are hot and then they’re not. Plus getting everyone scheduled together is also hard. Steve Howie is very busy, and so is Joanna Garcia. Mellisa [Peterman] is doing wonderful and here we are making a movie together. I guess timing and schedule will dictate that in the future.”
Although she cannot get the old gang together, yet, for a Reba reboot, she seems to have her boyfriend on board for a possible revival. They are even thinking of what role he could play.
“I’m a good gardener. I can play the gardener who is always outside and out of focus while Reba’s talking—every episode.”
