Eiichiro Oda’s ‘One Piece’ Manga Beats Its Own World Record

One Piece manga was released on July 27, 1997, and it has been 25 years of a successful run for writer Eiichiro Oda. With a total of 103 volumes released to date, the manga franchise is one of the biggest names among anime/manga fans In 2014, the manga broke a Guinness World Record with 320 Million+ copies published globally.

This exceptional feat by the manga received the title ‘World’s Most Published Comics Series by a Single Author.’ However, it is an old story now as the manga has once again outperformed itself. One Piece manga broke its own world record.

One Piece Shares News Of Its Achievement On Twitter

The fan-favorite manga series surpassed its previous record and was awarded a fresh certificate by the Guinness World Records for the very same title. This announcement was shared by the manga’s official Twitter account named @Eiichiro_Staff.

The tweet mentioned how One Piece surpassed its previous record of 320,866,000 Million copies distributed in 2014. Currently, One Piece manga has published and distributed 500 Million+ copies globally.

One Piece Manga-Anime Has 1000+ Chapters and Episodes

One Piece has had a long journey in 25 years of its exciting run. With Monkey D. Luffy as the manga’s main protagonist, the manga follows his journey alongside his pirate crew as they look for the fabled treasure, the titular One Piece.

This mysterious treasure piece is a legacy of the legendary Gol D. Roger, who was the last King of the Pirates. His execution and a prior announcement of the hidden treasure motivated Luffy and several other pirates to look for this aforementioned treasure.

As per CBR.com, the plotline follows typical Shōnen Jump manga themes like effort, victory, and friendship. A similar theme is present in popular manga like Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, and Dragon Ball. The manga-anime adaptation has currently released more than 1000 chapters and episodes of these nautical adventures by the pirates. However, it seems like One Piece’s final arc is nearing its end.

After the country of Wano was freed from the tyrannical Yonko Kaidu, Luffy & the Straw Hats are now headed to another island looking for the last Road Poneglyph. When these 4 red poneglyphs come together, they will divulge the information to help the pirates reach Laugh Tale. This is the final island in the Grand Line & also the resting place for the popular One Piece treasure.

However, Luffy isn’t the only pirate aiming for the treasure. Trailing him are his fellow pirates and the most fearsome ones at it. Apart from Blackbeard, Yonkos, and Shanks, he is also trailed by Eustass Kidd & Trafalgar D. Water Law.

Although Shanks has been Luffy’s mentor since his early childhood, they might butt heads given their final goals that clash.
