Chainsaw Man is the anime that fans have been waiting anxiously on for some time now. The manga is one of the hottest around the world at the moment. The success of that is naturally translating to a lot of hype and buildup towards the first season of this show. MAPPA, the studio helming the adaptation, has been milking this hype, too. They’ve been putting out all sorts of little teasers, from promotional art to cast leaks. And now we’ve finally gotten a full-length trailer. So let’s break down the trailer, the new information we’ve gotten alongside the trailer, and the reception from the fans.
Trailer & Release Date
The anime trailer came out just recently after a MAPPA event full of announcements for the future of the popular animation studio. We see a number of the main characters we’ll be following in the first season. As well as some context for viewers as to the world of Chainsaw Man. On top of that, of course, we get to see Denji, AKA the Chainsaw Man himself. Both in human form and in full chainsaw glory.
Chainsaw Man is the story of a man, Denji, in a world full of “devils” who have abilities related to things people fear. Denji becomes a hybrid human-devil with the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. He then joins the Devil Hunters, a group with a focus on fighting devils that threaten the public. Most specifically in the trailer, the Gun Devil is brought up. The Gun Devil is one of the biggest mysteries and most sinister villains in the Chainsaw Man manga. Naturally, people are full of excitement to hear his name brought up in the trailer.
We also get to see characters like Aki and Makima in the trailer. Two characters who work with Denji and will be very important to the anime. The trailer certainly has fans excited. The animation looks fluid and beautiful, they’ve clearly taken their time ensuring it all looks right. With a story like Chainsaw Man, the fights are incredibly important, and it seems like the fights in this anime will be as gory and brutal as they should be. Pair the quality animation with an official October premiere date and the hype train is now fully in motion.
