Peta Murgatroyd Details Horrific ‘DWTS’ Midseason Miscarriage
Peta Murgatroyd recently made the brave decision to open up about her miscarriages and fertility struggles with the world. Since then, she also revealed that she and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy have been going through IVF treatments in hopes of conceiving another child.
Now, Peta is coming forward and revealing another dark chapter of her fertility issues. And something very traumatic happened to the dancer while filming Dancing With The Stars Season 29.
Peta Murgatroyd suffered a miscarriage at the worst possible time
During each season of Dancing With The Stars, the pro dancers are under a tremendous amount of stress. They continuously have to come up with new routines week after week in hopes of becoming the next champion. In other words, it’s one of the worst possible times to have a medical emergency.
Sadly, Peta actually suffered one miscarriage in the middle of DWTS Season 29. That year, she partnered with NFL player Vernon Davis. They finished in 11th place out of 15 couples.
The dancer opened up about the experience on an episode of the Infertile AF podcast. She revealed that she found out she was expecting during Season 29 and told several people. But then she sadly lost the baby and didn’t know what to do next.
“I just knew something was wrong and then it happened. It was midseason, I was still dancing, I was still on the show and it was very traumatic, it was awful,” Peta recalled. She admitted she wasn’t sure how to tell the show’s exec team, so she kept the pain and heartbreak to herself.
“I kept it a secret while they were still asking me how am I feeling, are you excited? And I would just lie. … I was very ashamed of lying and then I couldn’t even describe how I was going to start the conversation,” the 36-year-old revealed. “I didn’t want to be in a constant sad state having to tell each, every person, so I was trying to find a time when I could tell each couple at a time and just kind of weave it in there and weave it out. … I didn’t know how to say I don’t have a baby anymore.”
The family presses onward and prays for good news
The journey has been long and difficult for Peta and her family. But hopefully, things will turn up now that she’s finishing up her IVF treatments. Additionally, her brother-in-law Val Chmerkovskiy and his wife Jenna Johnson are expecting their first child together. So Peta and Maks will have another baby in the family to love on and care for while they wait for their own blessing.
