‘DWTS’ Peta Murgatroyd Shares Recent Heartbreaking Miscarriage
Dancing With The Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd has been saying that she would like multiple children for quite some time. However, things haven’t been quite so easy for the Australian dancer and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy.
Recently, the couple made the brave decision to open up about their multiple miscarriages to the press. They do indeed want more children. But they’re struggling with fertility issues at the moment.

Peta Murgatroyd opens up about her fertility journey and tragic miscarriages
Even recently, Peta Murgatroyd said that she has baby fever and joked that she and Maks were hard at work trying to have another. Many fans believe that’s actually why she sat out on Dancing With The Stars Season 30. The women dancers do frequently take a step back when they’re in the early days of their pregnancy and haven’t made any formal announcements yet.
However, the season came and went and Peta still hadn’t said anything about a baby on the way. Sadly, she recently revealed that she and Maks are struggling with fertility at the moment. And they’ve suffered through three miscarriages in just a few short years.
The dancer revealed that one of her most recent miscarriages happened when she was battling COVID-19. That happened last October. Peta revealed said that she was so weak she could hardly even breathe. That time, Peta hadn’t realized she was pregnant, so she said it was easier to recover from the loss. But it did remind her of one of the darkest chapters of her life.
In 2020, Peta miscarried while shopping at Whole Foods.
“It was so shocking and so out of the blue,” the dancer told PEOPLE. “I was petrified. I was trying to tell myself, ‘It’s going to be okay.’ Of course, deep down, I knew.”
Peta went on to say that she let herself fully grieve, even though she was in public.
“I was sitting in the bathroom sobbing. I’m surprised nobody walked in because I was crying so heavily and wailing, one of those deep cries,” she told the publication. “That was something that will probably live with me for the rest of my life, being on that toilet by myself, knowing what was happening and not being able to stop it.”
The dancer and her family remain hopeful for the future
Even amid all the heartbreak, Peta and Maks still hope they can have another child soon. They’re seeing a fertility specialist that can help them plan their family.
“For the first time in nearly two years, I feel excited,” Peta told PEOPLE. “I’m in a much happier place. I got answers.”
Fans are so happy that Peta decided to share her story with the world. Many other families struggle with similar issues.
“I don’t have any other words but hope and positivity. I’m crossing my fingers that this is going to work,” Peta added about her fertility treatments.
