Jeopardy! Ken Jennings accepts horrific spelling

During Final Jeopardy from a recent episode of the show, the category was Literary Animals. The question read, “This children’s book character, introduced in 1926 & a friend of the title character, gets his name from the sound he might make.”

Viewers at home instantly knew the answer to this question. It was from the iconic series, movie, and book called Winnie The Pooh. The answer was “Eeyore.”

  1. The article quotes a tweet that says “anyone who says otherwise does not deserve amplification” — and yet, THIS ENTIRE ARTICLE AMPLIFIES PEOPLE WHO SAY OTHERWISE.

    It boggles the mind.

  2. Former Jeopardy! contestant here. The rules specify that misspellings are acceptable as long as they don’t change the pronunciation of the word. A phonetic spelling like “Ee-or” fits with that rule. It’s not Ken’s decision anyways. If he had made a call during FJ that didn’t fit with the rules, they would have re-taped him reading off that contestant’s answer amd responding correctly. Mayim Bialik’s recent call about the legibility of “Tubman” was a tough one, but the judges let it stand. I seriously dislike her on a moral level, but the judges endorsed her call and didn’t feel it needed to be changed.

  3. Who really gives a rip about this stuff?
These people need to Grow up and Shut up.
If they don’t like stuff on the show,
    Then DON’T watch it !!!!!!
They need to grow a brain.

    1. I agree that home bodies need to lay off jeopardy and wheel. You’re getting on everyone’s nerves with all your sticky remarks. I do enjoy Ken very much and think that Mayim is really too busy to be effective on FJ.
