‘DWTS’: Jenna Johnson Believes This Could Be Her Year
Dancing With The Stars pro Jenna Johnson came in second place in both Season 29 and 30. So she’s ready to make Season 31 her best year yet.
Last year, she and her partner JoJo Siwa were favored to win the competition by many fans. However, in an amazing upset, Daniella Karagach and Iman Shumpert came up from behind and won it all. Everyone loves an underdog story, after all.
Jenna’s spent all summer training and can’t wait to be back in the ballroom this fall. Keep reading to see what she had to say.
Jenna Johnson believes she might have what it takes to win
It can be incredibly frustrating to make it to the DWTS finale and then lose. And that happened twice in a row to Jenna Johnson. However, she says she’s not at all bitter about it. She recently opened up to Us Weekly about her journey so far and plans for Season 31.
“I feel like either I’m gonna win it this next season or I’m gonna get a grandpa and probably be out first. It might be my time, I’m not sure,” the 28-year-old dancer admitted.
The platform switch isn’t popular with many fans. Jenna herself admitted it’s going to be a big change, but she’s eager to be back in the ballroom.
“I’m so excited. I think change is scary in general, but I think it also ignites a new start and this sort of refreshing energy,” Jenna revealed. “I think Disney+ is really excited to have us and yeah, I’m just excited to see where the show goes.”
And in the meantime, she’s spent a lot of time looking online for ballroom dance ideas, costumes, and more to incorporate into new routines this year. Her last Mirrorball Trophy win was back in Season 26, so she’s readier than ever to bring another one home.

And what about her husband Val?
At the end of Season 30, Val Chmerkovskiy said he was probably done with Dancing With The Stars. He had a great run with her partner Olivia Jade and just felt like he couldn’t do better. But now, it seems as if he might have changed his mind.
“Val is definitely excited to come back for another season and I think that he’s in the best shape of his life right now,” Jenna said in another recent interview. “I’m not sure what happened to him [this year], but he is snatched.”
Fans will just have to wait and see what Val and Jenna have up their sleeves this year. DWTS returns for new episodes live on Disney+ starting on Monday, September 19.
