True crime fans have been quickly drawn in by Netflix’s latest release: Girl in the Picture. The documentary tells the story of Suzanne Sevakis who was abducted by her stepfather and later forced to marry him. After hearing the gripping tale, many people are wondering what has unfolded since. More importantly, where is Frank Floyd today?

Girl In The Picture Leaves Questions Unanswered

Sevakis’ tragic story came to light after her untimely death in 1990. At the time, she was only 20 years old. Frank Floyd claimed that she was killed in a hit-and-run accident. However, given what is now known about Floyd, it is hard to determine whether or not that is true or not.

The documentary unfolds, revealing shocking details about Sevakis and Floyd. In the beginning, viewers are under the impression that a woman named Tonya Hughes had died. It was reported that Hughes had one child, a son named Michael, with her husband, Clarence. Eventually, it comes to light that Suzanne Sevakis and Franklin Floyd had gone under many aliases. In fact, Sevakis never knew her real name.

Floyd was Sevakis’ stepfather. While her mother was serving 30 days in jail for writing a bad check, Floyd kidnapped Sevakis, sexually abused her, and eventually forced her to marry him.

Netflix’s doc does a decent job of unraveling the story – it’s a doozy! “Every 20 minutes there’s another sick, twisted layer to this wild story,” one viewer tweeted.

That being said, many true crime fans still have questions. Some folks have taken to social media to pose more questions about the case. “Why was so much left unexplained in Girl in the Picture?? What happened to her two sisters? What happened to her other child? Who was the father of Michael?” one person asked. They went on to say that it is still even unclear what killed Sevakis in the end.

Where Is Frank Floyd Today?

One question that can be answered with some certainty is where Frank Floyd is today. According to the documentary, Floyd survived on the run for 17 years. He missed a court date for a sexual assault charge in 1973 and virtually disappeared.

Floyd was able to make his way into Sevakis’ family because they’d fallen on hard times. Her mom, a single mother, needed help and Floyd offered to provide it. What she didn’t know was that he was a predator. When she was released from jail, she alleges that she could not get custody of Suzanne because Floyd was legally her stepdad.

“If I had found some way to get help to get away from the whole situation, then it never would have happened,” she said in the documentary. “And I was supposed to be her mother and protect her from that monster, and I didn’t.”

Thankfully, Floyd was sentenced to 52 years for the kidnapping of Michael Hughes and then later sentenced to death when it was discovered he murdered Cheryl Ann Commesso. At this time, he is 72 years old and waiting on death row at the Union Correctional Institution in Florida.

Girl in the Picture brought the details of this crazy story to light, but there are still a lot of questions to be answered. What are some of the things this documentary left you wondering about?
