Derick & Jill Dillard’s Baby’s Name Leaves Duggar Fans Shocked, Why?
Derick and Jill Dillard’s baby’s name has been revealed, but it has fans asking questions. The couple did something a little bit different when naming their third child. Keep reading to see why fans are surprised by his name.
In case you missed the news, Derick and Jill’s third baby has arrived! He was born on July 7 and they announced his birth in a blog post on July 11. You can check out the first photo here.
In their blog post, Derick and Jill Dillard’s baby’s name was announced. They named him Frederick Michael and he will go by Freddy. He has two older brothers, five-year-old Samuel and seven-year-old Israel.
What did fans think the baby’s name would be?
Duggar fans began speculating about Derick and Jill Dillard’s baby’s name months ago. Many believed that the baby’s name would begin with the letter “A.” This is because Jill and Derick previously discussed spelling “Israel” with the first initials of each of their kids’ names.
Prior to conceiving Frederick, they had a miscarriage and named the baby River. So, they had Israel, Samuel, and River. To continue spelling “Israel,” they would have had to use an “A” name with this baby.
They also abandoned the “el” ending for their kids’ names. They didn’t use a name ending in “el” for their miscarried baby either.
Derick & Jill Dillard’s baby’s name surprises fans.
On Reddit, Duggar fans and critics are talking about the arrival of Jill and Derick’s baby.
Jill Dillard’s baby’s name, in particular, is getting a lot of attention. Someone points out, “Looks like they’re not spelling Israel after all.”
Someone else agrees, “Yup was definitely expecting an A name.”
One Duggar fan shares their theory behind Jill and Derick’s changed plans for spelling “Israel.”
They write, “Conspiracy theory here, but I wouldn’t be surprised is the Israel thing was really the plan from the beginning when Jill was deep in the Goddard Kool-Aid, and now that she’s deconstructed a bit she’s changed her mind. Even Israel and Samuel are very classic Bible names while River is pretty modern.”
Though Frederick’s first name doesn’t end in “el” like his brothers’ names, his middle name does. One Reddit user says, “They kept the ‘el’ thing going with the middle name though.”
So, fans are pretty surprised to see that Frederick’s name doesn’t match his brothers’ names and that they didn’t continue spelling “Israel” after all.
