‘Welcome To Plathville’: Barry Plath Is No Stranger To Divorce
Welcome to Plathville star Barry Plath isn’t actually a stranger to divorce. Amid the news of his split from Kim Plath, details of his past have resurfaced. So, what happened?

Welcome to Plathville: Kim & Barry Plath’s Relationship In Trouble
One major storyline in Season 4 has been Kim and Barry’s relationship issues. Throughout the season, Kim has been finding herself and pursuing her own interests. While focusing on herself, she has discovered that she doesn’t truly want to be married to Barry.
So, she has been sleeping on the couch or staying at her family’s rental properties. She’s also mentioned divorce to her husband and kids, which has been documented on Welcome to Plathville.
Now, the couple has officially split, according to a statement they shared with People Magazine.
Barry Plath Married & Divorced Once Before?
Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball did some digging and discovered that Barry was married to another woman before meeting Kim. Katie shared her findings in a new Instagram post.
She revealed that Barry was previously married to a woman named Laurie Mack.
Katie writes, “After High School he attended college. He married Laurie Mack in Blue Earth county in 1990. By 1991, the couple moved to Tallahassee, Florida. In 1994, Laurie Mack filed for divorce from Barry in Leon County citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.”
Laurie and Barry didn’t have any kids.
WOACB reports, “After the divorce, Barry married Kim Andersson (Plath) in 1997. The marriage was Kim’s first and Barry’s second. Barry’s ex-wife moved back to Minnesota and works as an attorney.”
Katie also notes that the Welcome to Plathville patriarch wasn’t raised a fundamentalist. He was raised in the midwest and later became friends with people who were a part of fundamentalism. She points out that he hasn’t mentioned his first marriage on the show, either.

He creepy and I’m happy for Kim wanting to find her happiness !! I pray she can regain relationships with all her kids and even with Ethan wife !! I think those 2 would make a good mother n law /daughter n law fun team learning new things !!
It’s not all Barry’s fault! Kim knew all this when she married him and you don’t get married have all these children and then all of a sudden decide it’s not the life you want. Marriage is a sacred vow and she took those vows now unfortunately she’s decided she wants to go back to her ways of when she was in college. In my opinion she’s torn the family apart and Lydia is a fine Christian young woman that’s trying to get her mom to see that she’s made choices to get married and have these children and now it’s not right to throw her husband away like he means nothing to her now. Lydia knows but unfortunately Kim isn’t listening to her. All these children were brought up in a home that’s been so strict and they’ve never been to school nor were allowed to have friends. The children are very confused now and it’s not fair that Kim is sowing her oats and living the exact opposite of what all these children were taught. Unfair very unfair especially to the younger ones still living in the home with a mom that’s going to live 2 lives. They’d honestly be better off with thier dad or else Kim needs to enroll all the children in school and let them live a normal life and if she doesn’t then when they get of age they’ll all one by one leave just like the others did. Might as well let them go now so they’ll know what’s in the world instead of meeting up with wrong people who may lead them the wrong way and also laughed at like poor Ethan had to learn the hard way. He’s still not doing well and Olivia is the most controlling narcissistic young lady I’ve ever seen. This evening I was so happy to see Micah and Moriah give her a wake up call. She treats Ethan terrible and he’s undeserving of the way she acts. That girl needs extensive therapy. Now they’re in Scotland and Spain. Been in London for quite awhile. I’m so thankful Lydia went to live with her dad. He really doesn’t deserve what has happened. Yes I agree it’s both parents fault but if you’ve watched every episode then I’m sure you saw the parent that didn’t over step when the kids asked the parents not to come to Moriah’s first gig. Kim was determined and didn’t listen so Kim did what Kim wanted and that’s a problem with her. It won’t be long Kim will have a boyfriend and then the kids will have to deal with another problem. Atleast Barry said tonight his children is who he’s going to live for and be there and won’t leave.

Children is the hardest job in my opinion & there are so many in this family. As an outsider I see love between siblings. You can hardly wait to see one another. Your parents taught you love. They provided food, shelter, clothing & you got along mostly. You learned life on a small farm and how to do things. Playing the piano, working on a car, school work, talking about GOD & attending Church, talking & getting to know your family. So as you grew you began to think of all the Worldly things you have missed & Mother & Dad caused this. There are children who have to live with alcoholism, drugs, beatings, ugly sex in there homes. Would they have chosen to live in your house, you know they would. Would you want to live in there house? I don’t think so. Ethan married Olivia & she taught him how to drink beer, have sex, go to shows with almost naked women & she has caused Barry’s & Kim’s own children to turn away . She has interfered where she should not have. I can see where Kim just wonders where she has done anything right in raising her children. I see where Kim feels like she has to drink socially to just be with Micah. Now One of the girls said Mom you didn’t raise us this way. She is a Christian young lady & I pray she isn’t influenced by the older siblings. I pray for your family.
