Ken Jennings Or Mayim Bialik: Who Will Be Permanent ‘Jeopardy!’ Host?

Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik are in a battle to become the permanent host of Jeopardy! For the last five weeks, Bialik has been hosting the game show. Jennings is on an extended hiatus and is expected to return before the end of the season in July.

In the meantime, fans are buzzing about who will become the new permanent host of the quiz show. This comes after Alex Trebek’s passing in 2020. A string of celebrities tested out for the popular show.

Unfortunately, they all ended up losing out to producer Michael Richards. He stepped down from his position after his controversies came back to haunt him.

Has Jeopardy! announced the new permanent host?

At the time of this writing, Jeopardy! hasn’t announced the new permanent host. On May 7, 2022, Ken Jennings announced that he would be taking a break from the game show. He offered some praise for Mayim Bialik, who is the star of sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory and Call Me Kat.

“I’m handing the keys back to the talented actor-producer-writer-director (!) @missmayim for a few months,” Ken Jennings tweeted at the time. “We are lucky to have her! Thanks for watching, and I’ll be back before the end of the season.”

Bialik is currently the host of the show until Jennings returns. It’s unclear whether both will stay on to co-host or one of them will be chosen as the permanent host. Some fans have a feeling that Jennings will be announced as the new permanent host when he returns in July. Others think that Bialik could end up with the full-time position since she’s taken on more responsibility.

In an interview with The Wrap, Craig Erwich, the President of Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment, said a decision has yet to be made. Erwich also refused to tell Variety who would become the host of Celebrity Jeopardy! However, Bialik is said to be the frontrunner in the spinoff. She was featured in the promos for the new summer series.

The fans of Jeopardy! have been the most outspoken bunch, especially in recent weeks. Some fans have a feeling that Mayim Bialik will take on the full-time position. Some noticed that she mentioned that she really wants it. Bialik has been doing a lot of promotion for the game show in recent weeks.

“Just saw that Mayim Bialik wants to be the permanent host of Jeopardy. In a word NO. As a woman, I generally root for all women but she should not be the host of Jeopardy. Please keep Ken Jennings!” one Twitter user wrote.

However, some have a good feeling that Ken Jennings could end up with the position. They think he’s the perfect successor to Trebek.
