Is Jeopardy host Ken Jennings handing the keys back to Mayim Bialik? The two have been passing the keys back and forth for months now. Fans are dying to know who will take over for the late Alex Trebek. Jennings and Bialik have been holding down the fort for most of the year.

Jennings just admitted that he’s leaving the game show for “months.” Meanwhile, fans say they won’t watch until he returns. This could affect the ratings of the game show, which already has good ratings in the evening time slot. Find out about Jennings’ extended hiatus and more.

Kenning Jennings is going on an extended hiatus

The Jeopardy fan favorite said he’s going on a long hiatus. Fans of the classic game show shared their reactions on Twitter. Jennings broke the news to Jeopardy fans on Twitter on Saturday, May 7.

“I’m handing the keys back to the talented actor-producer-writer-director (!) @missmayim for a few months,” Ken Jennings wrote. “We are lucky to have her! Thanks for watching, and I’ll be back before the end of the season.”

He didn’t reveal the reason for his hiatus. But, it looks like he needs a little time off. Jennings has been pulling double-duty lately. Not only does he host Jeopardy, but he also appears on ABC’s game show, The Chase. Jennings continued to sing his praises for Bialik in a follow-up tweet.

“We are lucky to have her! Thanks for watching, and I’ll be back before the end of the season,” he added.

However, Jeopardy fans aren’t happy about this news. They’ve been wanting the show to remove Bialik from the hosting position. They don’t think she’s the right fit for the show. Others don’t approve of Bialik’s stance on vaccinations, even though she supports the science. Like her character in The Big Bang Theory, Bialik is an actual neuroscientist.

Jeopardy! fans aren’t happy with Mayim Bialik

It didn’t take long for Jeopardy fans to sound off about Jennings’ hiatus. Most of them took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Clearly, they’re disappointed that they’re going to see more of Bialik on their television screens. They plan to boycott the show during Jennings’ hiatus.

  • “For a few months? Guess I won’t be watching for that long, then.”
  • “You will be so missed, Ken! You just need to be the permanent host! Why is this not obvious to the powers that be?”
  • “No! No Ken… I guess I can skip Jeopardy! for a while.”
  • “A couple of months is way too long!”

Bialik and Jennings have been duking it out for the coveted host position. Jennings has been a hit with Jeopardy fans. Meanwhile, Bialik has received a mixed response. Most have criticized her hosting style on Twitter. Both of them have big shoes to fill after Alex Trebek passed away in 2020.

  1. Ken Jennings is the master of Jeopardy now. I’m going to be missing Jeopardy until he is back! Bialik is just not a good host! No personality!

  2. No, my husband and I will not be watching. We don’t like Mayim. Bring Ken Jennings back or Buzzy Cohen, but not Mayim.

    1. KEN JENNINGS IS BY FAR THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST. I’LL START WATCHING AGAIN WHEN HE RETURNS!!!!!

  3. I like Mayim. She is smart and has a nice personality. I think both Ken and Mayim should share hosting. It’s a nice change and it gives each one of them a rest. It can’t be an easy job.

Look forward to seeing more of Mayim. Thank you!

  4. I love it when Mayim hosts Jeopardy.
She’s very smart and speaks very clearly. I believe she does the best job hosting Jeopardy. I will be disappointed if she’s not chosen to host the show. However, at this time I plan on continuing to watch the show.

  5. Mayim Bialik- go get a job as a neuroscientist. You can’t claim to be one, just because you have the degree. You have to have actually held the position

  6. I like Ken Jennings style so much better than Malik’s.
Ken makes the show for me.
Give Ken the full time job as host.
Please no more of the other host. Don’t know how much longer I can take her.

  7. I will continue to watch, because I love the show period. However I much prefer Ken Jennings as host. Hoping he becomes permanent host.

  8. Maylin Bialik does a wonderful job, don’t understand people so negative towards her, She is definitely an asset to Jeopardy, even Ken Jennings tells that we’re lucky to have her, and I’m one that agrees with him !!!!! I will watch regardless of who gets chosen to be the host, both does a great job they both have big shoes to fill and I’m proud that a woman is finally given a chance to excel, Mayin, you go girl!!!!!!

  9. I really like both of them
I have a different view of mayim I like her and her wish her the best

  10. Wow – I wonder if this article could be any more biased?! Jeopardy is a good game, and both Jennings and Bialik have their strengths and weaknesses. To make blanket statements that appear to say all fans want him and none want her is just ridiculous.

    1. Ken Jennings needs to be the permanent host. Guess I’ll take the next two months off, also. Please announce his return so my family can start watching again. I hanks.

  11. Bring back Ken Jennings ASAP”to save the show. Malik is going to lose your viewers fast!

  12. Both are decent hosts, but I prefer Mayim because she speaks a tad slower and more distinctly than Ken. But that show is a treasure and I’m not going to stop watching because one or the other of them isn’t hosting. That’s goofy. She is refreshing and I’m sure Alex would approve.

  13. Funny, but when they have Jennings as host my family and I refuse to watch and switch over to something else…..none of us can stand the man and we certainly don’t appreciate his past comments on Twitter…. including a tasteless joke that read: “nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair.” For us it showed just how lacking in character he is for him to even think that this utterly tasteless, shallow comment is humorous in any way, shape, or form. Yes, I’ll give you that he is intelligent enough to win 74 straight games but Mayim’s doctorate degree in neuroscience from UCLA is to be admired and respected much more as far as this family is concerned!

  14. Everyone has their favorite. I like Bialik. I like Jeopardy. I don’t like Jennings. Even when he first was a contestant. I actually don’t watch when he hosts. My choice. Not trying to influence anyone like this story and comments seem to imply.

  15. I have tried to enjoy MB but it just isn’t happening. She has a place but it is not Jeopardy. I cannot sit and watch her for a few months. I will resume watching Jeopardy when Ken returns. It’s amazing how important a host is to a show’s enjoyment level.

  16. I will not watch until ken returns. He is the best fit for the show. Jeopardy will not last long without Ken.

  17. I too cannot stand MB. Her giggling, her hesitation when answering and her smugness make her a no-go in our house. I will watch again when Ken gets back.

  18. Have been fans of Jeopardy for over 2 decades,,,,,,,,,Watch the show daily. Ken is by far a better “ fit’ for the show than Mayim!! Nothing against her, he’s just a better fit, a “ natural”.
His style is more “easy going” as was Alex Trebek’s. Hope he becomes the permanent host. Mayim is not. “Relaxed” host, she makes ME nervous,,,,,THAT doesn’t work!

  19. We do not find Mayim appealing. She reads the questions with no inflection in her voice. We won’t watch till Ken comes back.
