Miranda American Remake Is Called Carla

Shamy is back! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik have reunited for a new multi-camera comedy called Carla. This is an American remake of the British comedy, Miranda. Miranda was a worldwide hit, starring Miranda Hart and Lucifer’s Tom Ellis.

Miranda, standing at 6’1, always feels she is a failure and a disappointment to her mother. She owns a joke shop with her best friend Steve, and has a lot of problems talking to her crush, Gary (Ellis). Written by Miranda Hart, this was an autobiographical comedy, beloved by many. Carla has some similarities, but some big differences based on the actress and the time period.

According to Deadline, the premise of Carla is about a 39-year old single woman who defies societal pressures of having it all, and uses the money her folks set up for her wedding to start a cat cafe. She wants to prove you can still be happy and even if you “cannot have everything you want.”

Mayim literally gushed on her social media about the new series. She will star as Carla. Bialik, along with her Big Bang husband, Jim Parsons, will executive produce together.

“Well, friends. Here’s what I’ve been doing and brewing…my friend and co-star, @therealjimparsons, and I are working together again!!! He and I are joining to executive produce a show for me to star in based on the BBC show “Miranda.” It’s called “Carla” and it’s been an incredibly windy road to get here. SO worth it. We could not be more excited to work together and bring you this show which features SO MANY CATS!!!! đŸ˜» Here’s us at one of our pitches, uncannily and totally coincidentally dressed like salt and pepper shakers. Link in my bio for all the exciting details!! #togetheragain#shamy #carla #cats @foxtv”

Big Bang Theory News

The Big Bang Theory has been in the news this week. On Tuesday, Deadline announced that the CBS hit comedy will be streamed on HBO Max. The deal is reportedly worth somewhere between $600 million and $1 billion dollars. That’s a lot of comic books! Like NBCU’s Peacock, HBO Max will begin streaming in the spring 2020. This will be the first time The Big Bang Theory has ever been available for streaming. TBS has been running reruns for years.

Clearly, HBO Max wants to lasso in the worldwide fan base that love the nerdy comedy. The new streaming service also took away Friends from Netflix. They paid $425 million dollars for the right to stream the NBC comedy.

Big Bang fans, are you excited about Mayim Bialik’s new comedy Carla? Will you be adding the streaming service HBO Max to stream all The Big Bang Theory seasons? Please share your comments and check back with TV Shows Ace with the latest on Carla, and The Big Bang Theory. Carla will air on Fox in Fall 2020.
