Are Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast members Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux on speaking terms? As fans know, the beautiful couple from the second season had a child together. Captain Glenn Shephard shared an update on their co-parenting relationship.

It came with a lot of drama along the way. Fans watched Dani and Jean-Luc’s romance unfold on the show. They also got an idea as to when they conceived their daughter.

Below Deck paternity drama

Dani and Jean-Luc developed a relationship during Season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Viewers saw the couple end the season together. However, that all changed when the stew announced that she was expecting her first child. During the reunion special, Dani confirmed that Jean-Luc was the father.

This came after months of speculating among Below Deck viewers. However, Jean-Luc was in denial. Leading up to the reunion, he quashed the rumors on social media. He said that he would take a paternity test before stepping up as a father.

“Let’s put it this way. This baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy,” Dani said in June 2021. “He hasn’t supported me at all in any way. He thinks it’s not his child and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.”

Jean-Luc filmed a separate reunion interview. He said he would first do a DNA test to confirm the paternity. The deckhand also said that he wanted to work on their issues first before getting involved. Seven months after Dani welcomed her daughter, Jean-Luc confirmed that he was the father in a lengthy Instagram post.

Captain Glenn Shephard shares an update

According to Captain Glenn Shephard of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, the drama isn’t over between them. The two are still experiencing issues with co-parenting. Glenn is no longer in touch with the former crew members. However, he did find out about their situation.

“I know that [Jean-Luc] has some involvement now with [his and Dani’s] baby. I heard that he’s setting up a college fund and that he talks to her regularly on zoom because they’re far apart,” Glenn told Us Weekly on Monday, May 16. “[Dani is] in Australia and his boat is in the states. He has to keep working obviously and I don’t think he can go to Australia and start a job.”

The Below Deck captain admitted that most of what he shared is just secondhand knowledge. Glenn admits that Jean-Luc “should do more,” but he’s not sure about “all the details.” He also didn’t reveal whether Jean-Luc has yet to meet his daughter.
