Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Glenn Shephard isn’t like other captains. Since the sailing yacht is much smaller than a motor yacht, he has to bunk with the crew members. Glenn didn’t seem to mind it though. During Season 2, he admitted that he didn’t mind bunking with former deckhand Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux.

He said that it was “not that big of a deal.” However, he might change his mind after the first night. Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered on Monday, February 21. Deckhand Tom Pearson is the one who gets to bunk with Captain Glenn this time. During the first crew outing, he had one too many drinks and got sick in their cabin.

Tom Pearson throws up in the cabin

During the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 premiere, Tom got sick in their shared cabin after a night of partying. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew members continued to drink and party on the deck. Tom entered the cabin and told Captain Glenn he was sick. Glenn responded as he sat in bed and read on his eBook reader.

Meanwhile, Tom kept making noises to hint that he was going to vomit. Tom ran into their shared bathroom and threw up in the toilet. The Below Deck Sailing Yacht cameras caught everyone. Fans were sick to their stomachs as they heard Tom getting sick from all that drinking.

Meanwhile, Glenn remained in his bed. He told Tom to sleep in the crew mess. Yet, Tom insisted on sleeping on the floor since he couldn’t handle the top bunk. Glenn regretted this decision.

He walked onto the deck and told everyone to stop drinking and partying. He reminded the crew that they had to wake up early for their first charter. Some of them asked Glenn if they could finish drinking their beer first. Glenn said no and told them to get to bed right away.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht captain almost rethought the cabin assignments

While Glenn doesn’t regret bunking with the crew, he admitted there was one moment where he rethought the idea. After the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 premiere, Glenn made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Glenn spoke out about that very moment when Tom got sick. Andy asked him if he ever thought about having his own “captain quarters.”

“Absolutely,” the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star responded. “If I ever wanted it, that was the night that I wanted it, for sure.”

In a June 2021 episode of Pita Party, Glenn spoke to Alli Dore, Dani Soares, and Daisy Kelliher about the sleeping arrangements. They asked him why he doesn’t want his own room. Alli noted that Jean-Luc was “crawling over” Glenn whenever they shared a cabin during Season 2.

“I’m used to that, you know. I’m fine. It’s not a problem,” the laid-back captain admitted. “In general, it is what it is. There [are] so many things I like about this boat. There’s only a couple of things I don’t like, and one of them is obviously sharing [a room] in-season, but you guys know it’s so busy. You go in there, you sleep, you go back out, so it’s not that big of a deal.”

Glenn admitted the sleeping arrangements are temporary. He ends up in his own cabin once the charter season ends. It’ll be interesting to see how this arrangement works with Tom. Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 now airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
