Does Simon Cowell Plan To Retire?
Simon Cowell is opening up about his retirement plans. It would be hard to imagine either America’s Got Talent or Britain’s Got Talent without him. He’s been a huge part of television and the entertainment industry for a long time. However, Simon has a new lease on life.
The longtime bachelor expressed an interest in settling down and getting married. In his exclusive interview with The Sun, he admitted that he’s grown bored with being single. Ever since his horrific e-bike crash two years ago, Simon has changed in a lot of ways. That includes his thoughts on marriage.
Leaving Britain’s Got Talent?
In that same interview, Simon Cowell revealed whether he plans to leave Britain’s Got Talent. His contract will end in 2025. Simon admits that he’s been thinking a lot about the future lately. Some of those thoughts include his subsequent retirement.
However, he will never retire from the music business. The famous music mogul has amassed a lot of wealth from the talented acts he’s signed on over the decades. Simon has no intentions of retiring. He wants to continue working for as long as he can.
“I’ll never retire,” Simon Cowell told The Sun. “I would never, ever do that. I think you’ve got to have a job you hate to retire. Thank God I have a job I still love.”
The television personality loves working on the show. He feels that he can make many people’s dreams come true. Simon came to NBC with the idea for this show in the U.S. Other networks weren’t on board with this idea.
“It was dead in the water. It couldn’t get arrested with it. No one wanted to buy it,” Simon Cowell said. “I just got really lucky that NBC bought it in America because if they hadn’t we wouldn’t be having this conversation today. It would be over.”
Simon Cowell loves his job
Simon Cowell hosts both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent. He has no plans to leave either show anytime soon. He loves that he can bring other people’s stories to the forefront. Simon still feels that this world has plenty of talent.
“The great thing is there are still amazing people out there with great stories and talent they want to share. I look at this show like it’s a bubble,” Simon Cowell added.
He really loves doing what he does for a living. It may not look like it at times, but he gushed about his job. He called the show his “happy bubble” and “funny bubble.” The 62-year-old hopes to be doing it for a long time.
“It will hopefully still be around because we all need that escape sometimes,” Simon Cowell said. “I’ll be committing until 2025 – that’s when the contract runs to.”
