Below Deck fans had Rayna Lindsey’s back all season. However, she lost them when she made shocking claims about her crew member Wes O’Dell. The show is best known for its drama and fights Most of the time, it takes place during the crew outings. Once again, deckhand Rayna Lindsey went head-to-head with chief stew Heather Chase.
There was a lot of alcohol involved. Rayna told Heather that she couldn’t forgive her or ever be friends with her. She could never see herself associating with a white person who uses the n-word. Wes tried to mitigate the issue between the ladies but found himself in the middle.

For their last evening, the Below Deck Season 9 crew went out for dinner and drinks. Rayna brought up Heather’s n-word controversy. Even though Heather apologized before, she couldn’t forgive her. Heather dramatically fell to her knees and begged for Rayna’s forgiveness.
Wes tried to reduce the tension between the two. Rayna snapped at him and told him that he wasn’t black enough to understand the situation. Wes is of mixed race. Rayna doesn’t think he understands the pain she went through in her life.

However, Wes admitted that he didn’t deal with much racism. In the earlier part of the season, Rayna told him that racism in the U.S. is worst than in other countries. Even though Wes was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, he moved to Charlotte Amalia, Virgin Islands, where he currently resides. Because of Wes’ mixed race and home residence, Rayna felt he didn’t understand where she was coming from.

Below Deck fans were shocked over Rayna’s claims. Some of them called her remarks “embarrassing” while others said it was “not cool.” They took to Twitter to share their thoughts after the shocking scene aired on the Monday, January 31, episode. Here are just some of the comments:
- “Rayna was wrong – what she did to Wes. Black people don’t get to tell other Black people, especially biracial ones, if they are Black or not.”
- “#BelowDeck 20 more minutes of Rayna and hopefully, she follows Lexi into the never to be seen again cast members.”
- “Woah Rayna. This is embarrassing behavior. Yes, Heather was an idiot saying the word in a rap song. But the only one who has continually attacked people for the color of their skin is Rayna.”
- “Of course, Rayana doesn’t want to sit down with Eddie and Heather and address once again the issue. It would ruin her storyline.”
Wes was obviously hurt by Rayna’s words. He brought it up to her the next day before they left the boat. Yet, she stands by her claims because of his background. According to her, Wes is from the Islands and can’t relate to the issues she deals with at home. She still brushed him off when he talked about his experience in the U.S.

Rayna is a horrible person! I hope that this wasn’t planned on Bravos part for ratings, if so I won’t watch anything from this network again, nor will I watch the show again. This is a horrible subject and I hate the things it brought out.
I couldn’t agree with you more. She is nothing but a petty, whining, condescending, black racist, who hates white people. I hope the show has enough common sense to drop her like a hot brick. That show is an empty shell of what it was 5 seasons ago with Kate and Ben. I’m done with it.

I can’t stand her. I don’t think she hates white people because she’s quick to jump half naked in Jake’s bed. She a complete embarrassment. As a black woman she was hard to watch and i won’t be watching the reunion. She kept saying she doesn’t want to be that “angry black woman”! Oh, honey you’re not, you’re that “immature, ignorant black girl”. She tells Heather that she’s good, hugs her, then complains to everyone behind Heather’s back. And what she said to Wes was disgusting. I won’t forget the first, or second episode when she asked Wes what girl he liked on the ship, I think she thought Wes liked her, she tells him “she only likes light skins”. So who’s the racist, Rayna?? Girl, Bye!!
Well said and you’re right about the angry black woman saying. She’s immature and completely ignorant. Everything she’s accused everyone else of she has done and another wrong comment in this article, NO fans of the shoe was not on her side!
Enough is enough with Rayna. The girl had a chip on her shoulder from day one, back when she was mumbling “white privilege” under her breath.. All she did was give that one word the power to ruin her self respect and image. Instead of having some grace, displaying the power of forgiveness, and declining to go down a road that perpetuates hate, she chose to behave like a spoiled child. To Heathers face she accepted her apology, then whispered, snickered and insulted her behind her back. The constant name calling was extremely hypocritical. She attacked her own fellow cast members who were trying to be supportive in the face of her toddleresque behavior. It was very clear all she was after was some good old fashioned attention. If using that word is so unforgivable to her, maybe she should remove it from her own vocabulary and then check her own racist actions.
I think Rayna is the one who is racist actually… If any white person Said half the things that that ignorant belligerent woman had to say she would persecute them she’s a total hypocrite. It’s all so disgusting.
And before you judge my opinions you should know my history and my life so let’s just be better to each other my God this is so antiquated. Stop being victims and stop victimizing each other the minute that someone thinks they have an upper hand y’all are cruel

Omg I hope Rayna sees how ridiculous she was when watching these shows. How embarrassing for her to be so nasty all season long to everyone. She liked jake because she wanted to sleep with him. She clearly hates herself and I hope bravo doesn’t put her on any other shows. She was painful to watch. What a crybaby.
She needs to respect her coworkers, hopefully she watches the season and learns from it and changes her attitude! It can change her life!
