Season 33 of The Amazing Race is only a week away. Recently, CBS revealed the cast for the long-awaited new season. A dynamic cast is a cornerstone in any great Amazing Race season. And this season certainly looks to have one of its best casts yet.

There are all different kinds of duos from all walks of life including the husband and wife of a successful Youtube family, viral video dancers, and the stars of The 15:17 To Paris. Amongst this fascinating cast is a pair of faces sure to be familiar to any Love Island fans out there.

Love And Racing

The couple is Caro and Ray from Season 1 of Love Island USA. They were a very successful couple who wound up finishing third overall in the season. They broke up after the season but have reunited to run the greatest race on earth. This is the first time a Love Island couple has ever appeared on the show. In the past, a number of reality stars from other shows have made appearances on the race. There was even an entire season dedicated to pitting Big BrotherSurvivor, and Amazing Race legends against one another.

How Caro and Ray’s Love Island skills will translate into racing ability has yet to be seen. It does not seem like talent in one would much translate to talent in another. But hopefully, they’ll surprise fans and you can see a lot of the Love Island favorites throughout the season.

Caro And Ray On ‘The Amazing Race’

“It’s kind of going to get us into the motion of moving as a team on a day-to-day basis,” said Ray in a pre-show interview.

Earlier this month he announced his excitement for the season finally airing on his Instagram.

“Big shoutout- to my dope ass cast for making HISTORY and being the first and only season to race during a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC!” Ray said in the caption of his post about the new season.

After 20 years and 32 trips around the globe, over 600 Racers have traveled more than 1 million miles to more than 90 countries! Now, meet the 11 new teams who go on their journey of a lifetime when host Phil Keoghan kicks off the 33rd edition of the CBS Original series THE AMAZING RACE on the two-hour season premiere, Wednesday, Jan. 5 (8:00- 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. The historic season began filming in Feb. 2020 but after three legs, was forced to halt production due to the covid-19 pandemic. Over one and a half years later and the longest pitstop in the shows history, Race resumed and concluded production this fall. Pictured: Caro Viehweg and Ray Gantt. Season 33 breaks ground after being halted three legs in due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in the fall of this year. That makes this the only season of The Amazing Race to have a year-long break between two legs.

“He promised me if we win he’s moving to LA,” said Caro in the same interview.

They said their relationship is currently long-distance. So a large part of their motivation coming into the season is winning the money so they can move closer together. Both physically and emotionally.

The Amazing Race Season 33 premieres on January 5th, 2022.
