Hulu Original movie Mother/Android on Netflix

Mother/Android is Hulu’s latest big movie and is premiering on the network on December 17, 2021. However, viewers outside of the US don’t have access to Hulu. Meanwhile, a deal was made to stream the new movie on Netflix internationally for a wider viewership.

One would think Mother/Android would head to Disney+, but not this time. This rare decision was likely made because Hulu has no distribution arm outside the US. However, it could also be due to the fact that Miramax is the primary distributor of the movie. According to What’s On Netflix, Netflix also has a relationship with the production company behind the movie, 6th & Idaho Motion Picture Company.

However, it isn’t the first time a Hulu Original movie has been picked up by Netflix internationally. Most recently, the Sarah Paulson thriller Run dropped on the streamer on April 2, 2021. Also, the comedy-horror movie Bad Hair has recently been licensed to Netflix in some regions.

What is the plot of the sci-fi movie?

The new Hulu Original movie is set in a near-future post-apocalyptic world where androids were once used as workers and servants. However, the androids have become sentient and have risen up against their masters, the human race.

Meanwhile, a pregnant woman and her partner set out on a harrowing journey to a human enclave in Boston where she can safely give birth. Days away from the arrival of their first child, they must cross a stronghold of the android uprising.
